A WAKE UP CALL FOR THE RACING MINISTER.

By Graham Potter | Tuesday, November 18, 2025

There is still no word from the Queensland Government about the release of the findings of the latest review into the Queensland Racing Industry, which has been touted by Racing Queensland as ‘a critical initiative shaping the future of Queensland’s racing industry.’

The findings were due to be made public at a specially arranged event scheduled for October 13 which was called off just days before the event was due to take place … without any explanation being offered.

It would be rescheduled for later in the month they said.

It wasn’t.

Just another false start.

Not only did the Queensland Government fail to carry through with that objective, but their silence with regard to what is going to happen next … and when … is very much counter-productive to the cause.

Whether the Racing Minister is talking privately to some sections of racing’s hierarchy behind the scenes, as has been suggested, or not, is beside the point.

It is the core cross-section of all of racing’s stakeholders and participants that need, and deserve, to be fully appraised of the findings of the review as a matter of basic respect.

Without them there would be no industry to review.

It is not the first time that the recommendations of a costly review have not been passed on to all racing stakeholders and participants.

It is like being on a road to nowhere.

For those interested enough ... this is the back story.

IF YOU HAVE GOT NO ROOM FOR ERROR, DON’T START OFF WITH A MISTAKE

Racing Minister Tim Mander needs to let people know what is happening with the Racing Review. It is a simple question and, in the first instance that is the question racing stakeholders and participants are asking. If it is a complicated answer, he needs to share that as well. Communication is key. Staying silent is a losing bet.
