CAN MOREIRA REACH TO TOP IN HONG KONG ONCE AGAIN

Watch out for Joao Moreira in the upcoming LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship (IJC) at Happy Valley on December 10.

He knows the track. He knows the conditions and, perhaps more importantly, he knows how to win under pressure.

“There’s something special about Hong Kong. The energy, the pressure, the fans — on big days here, you don’t ride a horse… you ride the moment, “Moreira told me last year when I interviewed him in Hong Kong.

He’s proven it time and time again … give him the right horse, and Moreira can turn any race into a magic show, which includes ate betting moves. Punters trust him, and the markets respond.

Moreira last contested the LONGINES IJC in 2021, finishing eighth. He was and IJC winner back in 2012, when he produced a masterclass performance to claim the title.

That victory remains one of the most memorable in IJC history and, as the 2025 edition of this extravaganza approaches, there is growing intrigue - could the Magic Man be ready to return to pinnacle of Happy Valley’s international stage once more?
