IT'S A RICH ON BUBBLES CELEBRATION

By Graham Potter | Saturday, March 7, 2026

What a generous starting price $4.40 turned out to be for the Ben, Will and JD Hayes trained Rich On Bubbles who simply demolished his opposition in the Magic Millions SA 2YO Classic over 1110m at Murray Bridge, winning by a runaway 4.10 length margin.

This was only the third start for the son of Capitalist and he was making it back-to-back wins here after shedding his Maiden ticket at his second start over 1000m at Pakenham on February 12.

Rich On Bubbles was resuming at Pakenham after being given a four month layoff following an ordinary debut outing in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes back in early October, and he clearly benefitted from the time he has been allowed to develop, putting together a highly professional performance for such a relatively inexperienced horse … and jockey Kayla Crowther can also take a bow for an exemplary ride.

Crowther had Rich On Bubbles in the second half of a relatively well packed field in the early part, with only two horses behind her.

Coming to the home turn Rich On Bubbles had moved up to sixth place in the ten horse field, but was still racing in tight galloping room … that is, until Crowther boldly angled her mount out on the point of the home turn, literally asking Ruch On Bubbles to push his way into clear air.

The Team Hayes trained runner still had all of a little over three lengths to make up on the leader at that stage, but getting into clear running was the game-changer as, although Rich On Bubbles did take his time initially in going through his gears, once he accelerated it was ‘race over’ as he quickly moved up to claim the lead.

The fact that he only hit the front with 180m left to run … and raced away to win ridden hands and heels and easing up on the line by that 4.10 length margin tells its own story.

Not in the big smoke yet, but the signs are there that, with Rich On Bubbles, Ben, Will and JD Hayes might have another good one to work with.
