THE TEAM ARCHIBALD TRAINED SIRAGUSA MAKES IT TWO WINS FROM TWO STARTS AT MUSWELLBROOK.

It might have been a low-key country TAB meeting at Muswellbrook, but the Annabel and Rob Archibald trained Siragusa caught the eye when making it two wins from two starts in a BM58 Handicap over 1280m.
The three-year-old has been … and still is … very much a work in progress.
The son of I Am Invincible had three trials, between May 2025 and January 2026, before being given his chance in race action and the stable’s patience and perseverance paid immediate dividends when Siragusa saluted on debut in a Maiden over 1200m at Tamworth.
Another two month break and Siragusa was ready for this next challenge at Muswellbrook, and he again duly obliged, winning far more easily than the official margin suggests after proving a bit of a handful for jockey Tom Sherry with his waywardness in the run home as Siragusa wanted to shift ground a few times, due to greenness, when left alone in front over the concluding stages.
His raw ability trumped his inexperience though, suggesting Siragusa can be expected to continue to his upward trend as he gains more race experience.
“Yeah, he was having a bit of a wander around over those concluding stages, but it was a good effort,“ said Annabel Archibald.
“It was a nice soft win in the end. He’s got plenty of ability … just very new obviously.
“He’s won two now though. Not many horses win their first two starts … albeit at Tamworth and Muswellbrook. I think he is better than that. We just wanted to build confidence.
“We can aim a bit higher now.”
Tom Sherry added his assessment of the win.
“I think he is a promising horse,” said Sherry. “In fairness, I gave him a message, and he hit the front a long way out.
“He got a little bit lost, but it just goes to show how much upside he has got.”
