DOOM MAR 16 - TRUMP SCORES BREAKTHROUGH WIN

By Graham Potter | Thursday, March 17, 2011

Doomben, March 16, 2011.
Track - Good 3, Rail - out 3m (1000m to 375m). Out 1m - remainder.
Maiden Plate (Two-year-olds - Set weights) - 1110m.
1 Trump; 2 Call Me Paris; 3 Index Page.
Time: 1-05.39. (Carrying 56kg). Last 600m: 35.12.
Margins: 0.50; 1.75.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Robert Heathcote: “Look, he is by Written Tycoon. The owners raced Written Tycoon.

“David Payne had him and always thought he was a nice horse. He came up to me and he was a little bit wayward.

“You know, I said to Damian (Browne) today, I expect him to do a few things wrong. If he doesn’t he’ll be winning, because he is a talented racehorse … and David Payne said that when he sent him up.

“He’s had the necessary procedure that many male horses have and he’s come back well first-up today.”

Jockey Damian Browne: “He is still a little way off being a race-horse yet.

“He tried to run away from them a little bit today and he sort of didn’t know how to let go.

“He was always going to beat the other horse (Call Me Paris) but he just doesn’t quite know what it is all about yet.

“It’s hard to say what form you take out of this sort of race, but apparently they had a bit of opinion on him.

“I spoke to Brad Pengelly (who rode the horse in his previous start in Sydney back in October) this morning. He said, look, I’m surprised he is up there (in Queensland) already.

“He was a colt that did things wrong. I think Rob (Heathcote) has gelded him … got him on the right track.”

PRICE FLUCTUATIONS:
Winner (Trump): 1.90 out to 2.20 in to 2.00.
The winner was the favourite.

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Trainer K. Schweida was reprimanded under LR. 42 for failing to enact a stable return correctly for Index Page, which resulted in no colours being displayed in the racebook.

As B. Stewart was to be overweight, E Wilkinson was substituted as the rider of Another Actress. B. Stewart was fined $100 under AR. 120(b).

Spotted Eagle (S. Scriven) was slow to begin.

Unpublished Critic (L. Cassidy) lost ground after jumping awkwardly and shifting out making contact with the hind quarters of Etched In Glass (A. Spinks).

O'junior (K. Fuji) jumped away awkwardly.

Spotted Eagle hung out whilst racing wide through the middle stages.

Leaving the 500m Trump (D. Browne) shifted out around the heels of Rudder (Michael Palmer) to improve, taking Spotted Eagle wider on the track.

Leaving the 450m Rudder laid out and away from Call Me Paris (J. Byrne), resulting in Call Me Paris securing clear running to that horse's inside at that stage of the race.

Index Page (J. Wood) was momentarily held up for clear running shortly after entering the home straight.

Approaching the winning post Unpublished Critic shifted in and bumped Rudder, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

R. Wiggins, the rider of Kounistra, was reprimanded under AR. 137(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
