EF JAN 11 - WELL CREDENTIALLED IS TOO STRONG

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Eagle Farm, January11, 2012.
Track - Good 3.Rail - Out 200m from 1000m to 400. True for the remainder.
Maiden Plate (Three-year-old Fillies) - 1000m.
1 Well Credentialled; 2 Winning Recipe; 3 For Mia; 4 Gold Best.
Time: 59.63. Last 600m: 35.38.

Trainer John Thompson sent the lightly-raced three-year-old filly Well Credentialled to Queensland after she had previously raced on two occasions in New South Wales. The move paid immediate dividends when the New Zealand bred daughter of O’Reilly landed her first career win.

Well Credentialled raced on the rear of the main pack some four lengths off the lead until the turn where jockey Tim Bell eased her out into clear running in the centre of the track.

Well Credentialled was anything but sure-footed on straightening and it took her a while to settle into a comfortable stride. Once there though, her challenge gradually built momentum and by the time the field charged through the 200m mark, it had become a race in two between Winning Recipe, who Jim Byrne had punched through on the inside rail, and Well Credentialled, who was now in full stride down the outside.

That, in turn, became an uneven contest as Well Credentialled asserted her superiority over the final 100m to score in decisive fashion.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Brett Killian (foreman for the John Thompson stable): “Yeah, she was running around a bit. She is still learning and she did take his time to find her feet.

“It's a good track for us … Eagle Farm. It’s great for our horses because a lot of them get back and the track just gives you your chance.

She’s done pretty good since he’s been on the farm and she’ll get better.”

Jockey Tim Bell: “She jumped out and travelled pretty well. I was confident enough coming to the turn.

“She sort of gave me the impression he was going to find a lot but, just due to the way it was racing because of the greenness … the way she was carrying on you can just put down to greenness … she had to grind away a bit at first.

“Look, she is not the most polite horse to ride work on either. If she gets her head around things she is a going to be a lot better off.

“There is a lot of improvement left in her I can assure you. There is definitely a couple of Saturday wins in her.

“Yeah, I’m still travelling well personally. I’ve got to keep things going. I’ve got to work hard to make a good career out of this now that I’ve dropped my claim.”

PRICE FLUCTUATIONS:
Winner (Well Credentialled): 3.10 out to 3.80.
Favourite (1.80 out to 2.10): Finished third.

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Persian Eyes was declared a late scratching at 7.40 am.

Ajna (P. Hammersley) faltered shortly after the start.

For Mia (D. Griffin) raced three deep without cover throughout the race.

Heart Of My Heart (J. Letherby) raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
