DOOM OCT 27 - BESEECH COMPLETES A HAT TRICK

By Graham Potter | Saturday, October 27, 2012

Doomben, October 27, 2012.
Track - Good 3; Rail - out 8m.
Class 6 Plate (Set weights) - 1350m.
1 Beseech; 2 D'jet; 3 Jersey Shore; 4 Poste Restante.
Time: 1-20.48; Last 600: 33.49.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Nathan Schofield: “Unfortunately for Justin (Stanley - the horses regular rider) … I love him, he is like a brother … but I just couldn’t put him on with the weight.

“I knew that Rosie (Myers) was riding Desleigh Forster’s horse (Poste Restante) and with 51kg’s it was going to be awfully hard to beat, so I had to take a claim as well.

“Now he’s won again we are flying out to Flemington on Tuesday night and he’s going to run Melbourne Cup day in a four-and-five-year-old Benchmark 89, 1400.

“It’s a life-time opportunity. The horse is flying. For an $11 000 buy, I think he deserves the trip. It’s a dream come true for me. I'll have a race-book in my hand with my name in it as the trainer of a runner at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day."

Jockey Maija Vance: “It’s my first ride on the horse, but he is just such a lovely horse … the kind of one you love to ride and love to own.

“He’s going huge. He jumped good. They didn’t go too quick. He settled really nice outside the leader and when I asked him for a bit more he started giving.

“When I went for him he just took a little while to get going, but once he got going he never stopped and he never let anything go past him.

“They did sort of loom up to him, but he just kept fighting. I think it was his toughness in the end that helped pull him through in the end.

“I think he is a horse that is quite versatile. I think he will even go further if he’s trained for that. He just does whatever you want him to.”

PRICE FLUCTUATIONS:
Winner (Beseech): 6.50 in to 4.60 out to 4.80.
Favourite (Post Restante): 3.20 in to 3.00 (Finished fourth).

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Endless Shadow was tightened for room on jumping away between Beseech (M. Vance) and Peppered Black (B. Stewart), both of which shifted ground. In this incident, They Won't Last lost its position.

Poste Resente (R. Myers) jumped away awkwardly.

M. Vance, rider of Beseech, was severely reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in near the 1000m, resulting in Jersey Shore (R. Wiggins) having to be steadied.

Near the 1200m, Endless Shadow (T. Harrison) raced ungenerously at the heels of Peppered Black (B. Stewart) and had to be steadied.

Mr Orient (J. Lloyd) had difficulty securing clear running over the concluding stages.
