Form assessed for a good 4 (rail out 7m, could suit on-pacers).

RACE 1:

Even lot but BILLY AUCASH (1) has gone well enough at his past 2 to be hard to beat here. Stablemate ELUSIVE STORM (3) went as well as BILLY AUCASH at Doomben last start but a slight concern with 1800m. FRETON (2) is tough and trained locally. Rarely runs badly. Rough chances 4 and 6.

RACE 2:

CARMENERE (2) ran well here on debut at 1200m. Extra distance suits and blinkers go on. CUERVO (13) is coming off a Group run at Doomben after 2 promising efforts. Will be a long way back from the wide gate, though. WATER BOY (11) boasts consistent Gold Coast form. Rough chances 1, 3, 5, 9, 10, 12 and 15.

RACE 3:

Even lot but LADY NO MORE (4) can go well 1st-up. Raced well in 3 runs during autumn and trialled easily recently. No dramas with distance. SUGAR HIT (5) either leads or boxseats and comes off a last start 1200m win this track. EVERYDAY HERO (3) has run well in 3 starts so far. Rough chances 1, 8 and 9.

RACE 4:

STEEL ZIP (5) is not getting any younger but can perform well fresh and trialled well twice recently. Go both totes around $5. THE CONSPIRATOR (3) gets all the favours with the rails gate and the right distance while ROCKY KING (1) showed a glimpse of his best form in recent Lightning 2nd at Doomben. Rough chances 2, 4 and 7.

RACE 5:

Keen on MOON AND THE STARS (4). Solid 2nd to Tints here last start and secures a perfect run from the gate with a 2kg claim. Logical danger is the strong finisher WATER KISS whose 6th at Scone was sound. PERSIST (9) is a last start GC winner who appeals as the one out leader. Rough chances 6, 7 and 11.

RACE 6:

LORDAG (6) gets his chance today. Well drawn with Colless riding, he was unsuited in a slowly run race latest Sunny Coast 3rd. Better tempo helps today. FELTRE (4) is a backmarker with a big finish. Watch for him late while RED HOT DAZZLER (12) will also produce a strong run. Rough chances 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 14.

RACE 7:

OUTBACK SAGA (7) deserves top billing on his past 2 runs here and Doomben. Byrne needs to weave some magic from outside gate to slot into a spot. I AM BOSS (4) is ultra-consistent and sure to run well again while HEADWATER COUNTRY (3) secures a good run from the rails gate. Rough chances 1, 2, 5, 9, 10 and 11.

RACE 8:

Strong race. STAR SAMMY (6) is racing well and from the rails gate is likely to box seat. Seems foolproof eachway. SHEES FLAWLESS (9) is a fast former Kiwi but is short enough in my book considering she is coming out of a setback and hasn’t run since April 25. DREAM OF SLIPS (7) will find this easier than his latest D’bn 6th. Rough chances 2, 8, 12 and 15.

BEST BET: MOON AND THE STARS (Race 5).

BEST EACHWAY: LORDAG (Race 6).

NO BEST ROUGHIE.

QUADRELLA: 1, 4, 7, 9 / 4, 6, 10, 11, 12 / 1, 3, 4, 7, 9 / 6, 7, 8, 9, 15.
