DOOMBEN, NOV 14: DAVID FOWLER SELECTS ...

By David Fowler | Friday, November 13, 2015

Selections and commentary for Doomben tomorrow. Please note form assessed for a good track but weather report suggest rain could fall tomorrow afternoon. Also note form assessed before the Saturday 7.30am Saturday final scratchings deadline. Please check final fields and conditions for any changes on the day

RACE 1:

EMTEVEE QUEEN (2) beat BOOM SHUCKA (1) in their Toowoomba clash but the latter ruined his chances with erratic behaviour and has since won at Doomben (last Saturday). Still prepared to think the former can win again. ZELADYS NIGHT OUT (6) is a first starter in the premier stable with no official trial profile. There has been some money for her on UBET fixed. Rough chances 3 and 4.

RACE 2:

The one alley is big plus for SECRET SAGA (1) who should ping to the front and repel any speed drawn on her outside. Hard to see her being beaten around Doomben “on the lure”. MADOTTI (5) was unlucky here 3 weeks ago and can threaten late if she is saved for one short sharp dash. PRIVLAKA (6) can run well fresh judging by an easy Deagon trial win. Rough chances 1, 3 and 4.

RACE 3:

Open. TANGENT (14) was solid in her Ipswich win 3rd runs back and maps to get a good run here. Appeals eachway. RICH REWARD (5) is also a last start Ipswich winner and, similarly, will secure the right trip in transit. DAME DESTINY (10) has come back well this campaign and will be an on-pacer. Rough chances 1, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 17.

Race 4:

Open. GRAPPA BRANDY (4) has an awful barrier but I think he has a bit on them judging on his 4 length romp here a fortnight ago. The field is certainly no harder but the jock will have to weave some magic. INKA DINKA DOO (10) is progressing through her grades and although its D day here, she has a light weight and a good barrier. Value hope. ANNAMAN (8) maps to get a good run and had little luck here last time out. Rough chances 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 18.

Race 5:

Open. HOMEHILL (14) boasts a poor strike rate (1 win from 15) but ran well off a wide gate here a fortnight ago, coming from last and wide. Surely gets a better trip in this. MARKSFIELD (2) will run honestly form the good gate while WATLING (12) finally draws a decent gate but a little concerned he has developed a habit of missing the start. Rough chances 2, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 15.

Race 6:

Open. SEA RED (12) has had 2 runs back and looks suited to the mile at her third run this campaign. Chased home two smart ones here 3 weeks ago. COMACINA (10) hit the line hard here 3 weeks ago and I expect him to be handier in running in this. DARCIS AFFFAIR (6) is a last start track and trip winner and seems suited again. Rough chances 2, 3, 7, 14 and 15.
Race 7:

THAT’S A GOOD IDEA (1) is a one out leader who is better than his rivals. Check out his overall record and tell me why he can’t demolish these. LE VAL (13) has been freshened for this and will flash late. Good quinella hope. STEEL ZIP (3) has also been freshened and the rails alley helps him. Rough chances 2, 10, 12 and 14.

Race 8:

Open. SONY LEGEND (1) is a quick beginner and drawn the rails. Will give a great sight if he runs to his consistent form. SOLDI DOMANI (11) is 1st-up and money on UBET fixed suggests he might be well fancied for this assignment. Smart when right. TINA MELINA (16) secures a good run from the gate. Rough chances 1, 7, 10, 15 and 17.

BEST BET: THAT’S A GOOD IDEA (Race 7).

BEST EACHWAY: TANGENT (Race 3).

BEST ROUGHIE: INKA DINKA DOO (Race 4).

QUADRELLA: 3, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14 / 3, 6, 7, 10, 12 / 1, 13 / 1, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17.
