WINNO'S WINNERS (2): SUNSHINE COAST, APRIL 23

By Darren Winningham | Friday, April 22, 2016

As this form assessment was made prior to raceday, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

Mixed success at Toowoomba last week but kudos to Ben Currie winning the Cup and Tony Sears for winning the Weetwood.

SUNSHINE COAST

Rail is in the true position for the big day of racing. Watch for horses swooping on the crown of the track late!

********************************************************************************************************

Race 1:

Kaiser Franz (2) is coming off a nice win at Doomben 3 weeks ago. Beware of Lord Coconuts (3) on the bigger track and drawn better than its last start. Flitero (10) looks like a promising stayer and could blow them both out.

Selections: 2-3-10-5

********************************************************************************************************

Race 2:

Oradonna (8) was unlucky last start finishing second to Elegant Composure (4) who has gone up in the weights. Should see the tables turned on Saturday. One of my best bets on the card.

Selections: 8-4-1-3

*********************************************************************************************************

Race 3:

The Sydney raider Winning Rupert (10) may just rain on the locals’ chances of winning the race. the Tony Gollan trained Il Riccio (9) has trialled impressively as well. Keep a close watch on these two and any market moves for them. Oink (3) and Dreams Aplenty (7) won impressively at their last starts and are race fit.

Selections: 9-3-6-10 - rough chance the 7

********************************************************************************************************

Race 4:

Some speedsters here! Lady Jetsetter (2) only knows one way to race and that is fast! Drawn wide may be a huge task to win from out there. Another Whiskey (5) has been racing well and has been freshened at a recent barrier trial. I like Londehero (3) as a nice chance fresh from the Matthew Dunn stable – it has the blinkers back on for this run. Sammi Jain (9) always runs well second up from a spell and loves the track.

>Selections: 5-3-9-2 rough chance 7

********************************************************************************************************

Race 5 – Princess Stakes (Listed Race):

Look to the Stars (1) and Queen of Wands (2) both from Sydney are down in grade and may be hard to beat here. Kebede (5) was impressive last start at Doomben and is getting ready for a Queensland Oaks run. I like the chances of some roughies down the bottom to run home late – O’Reilly’s Angel (15) and Kim Noir (18) could put some value into the trifectas.
`
Selections: 2-5-15-1 rough chance 18

*********************************************************************************************************

Race 6 - Montrose Therapy & Respite Tails Stakes (Listed Race):

I did not tip Sir Moments (1) the other week but it was very impressive. I am wary of the big weight but looks for the black and green spot colours swooping down the outside of the track late. I do have a healthy respect for Lunar Rise (6) trained by James Cummings and to be ridden by Blake Spriggs. The most unlucky horse this preparation has been Allknight Saint (12), it loves the track and could be the knock out horse and massive odds. Adorabeel (10) has been transferred from the Joe Pride stable to the astute Helen Page stables. This horse could run well with the change of stable.

Selections: 1-6-12-4 rough chances 3 and 10

*********************************************************************************************************

Race 7 IGA Sunshine Coast Ascot Handicap (Listed Race)

Good quality field assembled for this race. Casual Choice (2) has been a model of consistency since resuming and was scratched from the Weetwood after drawing wide last week. Worthy Cause (3) trained locally by John Zielke has trialled well getting ready for this race. The roughie of the race is Desert General (12), undefeated at the track in three starts. Could be one to watch and put in your multis. Frespanol (4) has had a change of stables. Now with the Tony Gollan yard and could run well fresh. Last week’s Weetwood winning jockey Jimmy Orman has been booked to ride Jessy Belle from the Luke Oliver stable at Caulfield. It has been running well in some higher class races of late without much luck.

Selections: 3-2-12-4 rough chance 6

********************************************************************************************************

Race 8 IGA Mick Dittman Plate (Listed Race)

Where do I start here – I think you could take the field and get a massive result in your Quaddies and Trebles. There are some promising horses returning from a spell. Secret Saga (11), Blue Desert Moon (12), La Dolce Vita (13) and Sold for Song (14). Not to mention Dram of Red (4) winning a trial at Murwillumbah recently. With the locally trained Divine Centuri (18) not without a chance as well. Back whatever one you like as I think they will all be value. If you jag the first four here I would not be fighting the traffic home – just charter a helicopter! In summary I am tipping Luke Dittman to be presented with the winner's trophy from his legendary father Mick Dittman – what a sight that would be!

Selections 14-12-18-11 with rough chance 4 and 13

********************************************************************************************************

Quaddie (races 5,6,7,8) 2, 5/ 1, 6, 12 / 2, 3, 12 / 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18 - cost $108 for $1

Treble (races 6,7,8) 1, 6, 12 / 2, 3, 12 / 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18 - cost will be $54 for $1

Small Quaddie (races 5,6,7,8) 2, 5/ 6, 12 / 2, 3 / 11, 12, 14, 18 - cost $32 for $1
