WINNO'S WINNERS: ROSEHILL, MAY 7

By Darren Winningham | Friday, May 6, 2016

As this form assessment was made prior to raceday, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

I must apologise for last week at Hawkesbury – seriously if I knew they were going to run down the outside rail and the jockeys steal the kids’ fairy floss of the way past I would never have tipped!

This week we are back to Rosehill with the rail out 3 metres the entire circuit. Rosehill has suited on pace runners the last few meetings maybe this will be the case again on Saturday.

Race 1

Baltic Whisper (3) has won two recent trials and Lavender Hills (8) has won a recent trial. These two new comers to racing could be the ones to beat.

Selections: 3-4-8-2

********************************************************************************************************

Race 2

Painte (6) was a good run last start. Grunderzeit (3) and Caped Crusader (1) run well fresh and the plunge horse Well Hardley Ever (7) from a few weeks ago goes around again, there is no money for it at this stage this week.

Selections: 6-3-7-1

********************************************************************************************************

Race 3

Brenton Avdulla is back from his quick holiday to Hong Kong to see the mighty grey Australian sprinter Chautauqua and Tommy Berry destroy an international field last weekend. He rides Circle Game (10) and looks like he will grab a winner here. I tipped Dylan’s Destiny (8) last start and it had no luck so it could be the toughest to beat.

Selections: 10-8-4-3

********************************************************************************************************

Race 4

This race starts off the Big 6 for NSW punters. Rodrico (3) won last start and should continue on with that form. Romantic Maid (9) is an interesting runner from New Zealand and to be ridden by Michael Rodd after losing its rider last start in a Group 2 race in New Zealand.

Selections: 3-9-8-13

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 5

Tough race. If you need to bet maybe have something each way on Lucky Fish (9) and Zara Bay (11) both first up from a spell and have been trialling well.

Selections: 9-11-1-7. Rough chances 3 and 4.

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 6

Religify (1) has been unlucky in the last two starts. Has got some weight but may have a fair bit on this lot. Rockolicious (8) has a good run last start behind Hetty Heights and is the likely danger. A good quinella!

Selections: 1-8-3-2

********************************************************************************************************

Race 7 – Lord Mayors Cup (Listed Race)

Lady Le Fay (11) was impressive last start sent out a short priced favourite. Havana Cooler (1) has drawn wide but loves the 2000m at Rosehill. I tipped Index Linked (2) last start to improve second up and it ran a mighty race. It has won two races on its third-up run, so look for some further improvement.

Selections: 11-1-2-7

********************************************************************************************************

Race 8

A real bad race. Daysee Doom (11) on form looks quite promising so let’s go for it. Zelda (12) has always showed some promise so maybe it can test the favourite here.

Selections 11-12-1-4

*********************************************************************************************************

Race 9

Another tough last race. Santa Rocks (17) was scratched from Hawkesbury last week in the last race and it was my tip – so I must follow it again this week. Moher (11) has come back in class and should run well but has drawn barrier 20. The young, promising Northern Rivers apprentice Andrew Adkins will need all his skill to get it home. I like a few roughies as well if they make the field. Zourkhan (16) a French import having its first Australian start for Chris Waller. Maybe Francesco (19) with the good barrier could race handy and finish the race off strong.

Selections 17-11-9-3. Rough chances 6, 16 and 19

**********************************************************************************************************

Quaddie (races 6 to 9) 1, 8 / 1, 11 / 1, 11, 12 / 3, 9. 11, 16, 17 - cost $60 for $1

Value Quaddie (races 6 to 9) 1, 8 / 11 / 11 / 9, 11, 17 - cost $6 for $1

NSW BIG 6 (races 4 to 9 ) 3, 9/ 1, 9, 11 / 1, 8 / 1, 11 / 1, 11, 12 / 3, 9, 11, 17 - cost $288 for $1

Treble (races 7 to 9) 1, 11 / 1, 11, 12 / 3, 9, 11, 16, 17 - cost $30 for $1

Jockey's Challenge

Since I have talked him up lets have some $$ on Brenton Avdulla to beat Tye Angland in a tight battle. I hope to see them both in the coming weeks for the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
