WINNO'S WINNERS - RANDWICK, SEPTEMBER 3

By Darren Winningham | Friday, September 2, 2016

I have answered the call from all my Sydney friends who follow the Horse Racing Only site. They have requested a preview of the Sydney meetings over the coming weeks – so here goes punters!

The rail is out 6m for the entire course. The track is rain affected with a heavy track forecast. They are saying that leaders or horses on the speed here may have a distinct advantage.

In other news Sydney based Sam Clipperton has ventured internationally setting up in Hong Kong – the new season in Hong Kong commences this week and he has been booked for seven rides on the program. As we all know, it is a very competitive racing industry in Hong Kong – let’s hope that Sam makes his presence felt as have other jockeys from Australia.

NB *As this form assessment was made prior to raceday, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

Race 1

Signposted (1) will lead here but has a massive weight of 61 kilograms allocated to it – does get some relief for apprentice Blake McDougall who takes three kilos off and has ridden the horse to victory in his last three starts. He has been well supported in early markets firming from $4.50 to $2.80. So Willie (5) from the Waller stable has been well backed as well, from $4.50 to $3.50. These two look like they have the race between them.

Selections: 1-5-8-4.

Race 2

Dubaiinstyle (4) is looking for a hat trick of wins here and looks the one to beat. I think there is some stiff opposition from the stable mate Thunder Down Under (2) who is third up from a spell here and should be ready to show something. Dowdstown Charlie (6) will handle the heavy conditions here and will fill a place. A roughie here is the John Sargeant trained Rainbow Park (1) who has been subject to a betting plunge being backed from $21 to $11 in early markets. Blake McDougall again takes the ride and with only 51 kilos on the mares back he may outstay the rest of these.

Selections: 4-2-10-6.

*************************************************************************************************

Race 3

A tough race this one. I remember backing Swear (3) first up at Hawkesbury and it got the chocolates. It has had two recent barrier trials and really showed nothing. The horse with race fitness is the Snowden trained Argentina (6) who won last start. The stable mate is Taj Mahal (2) and it ran a nice race first up. Blake Shinn takes the ride. Skylight Glow (1) loves to lead but may be tested first up here with the heavy track.

Selections: 6-3-2-1.

***************************************************************************************************

Race 4

I see my good friend Sue Grills has taken one to town – now this lady can train a horse! She has Assurity (6) engaged and it loves the wet and has met with some good backing in early markets, firming from $11 to $7 since the markets have opened. I must confess I did get some of the $11 that was on offer. The race is very open and I have gone for Squidenzquizz (4) and Grand Rouge (11) to fill the placings as they look like the best of the rest that will handle the wet track. The favourite Galaxy Warrior (1) has some weight but is an honest type and will be sure to be there about in the finish. I give a rough chance to Trying (5) as well. :oves a wet track but has blown like the gale since the markets opened from $9 to $17.

Selections: 6-4-11-1 rough chance 5.

****************************************************************************************************

Race 5

Tsaritsa (5) makes a comeback to racing after a successful Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign. She looks the one to beat here if it can handle the heavy conditions first up. I did tip this horse to be a star in the Spring when it was in Brisbane so I hope the mare can return with a dominant performance here. The likely danger is Burning Passion (9) who handles the heavy going and has race fitness on his side. Zin Zan Eddie (3) comes off an unsuccessful run at Eagle Farm – but he loves a heavy track and should be thereabouts at the finish.

Selections: 5-9-3-6.

***************************************************************************************************

Race 6 – Fast and Furious Stakes (Group 2)

This is a tough race with an open field to start the quadrella. I am tipping the new training team of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bolt to win with Global Glamour (12) here – Tommy Berry takes the ride. Awoke (8) from the Waller yards has met with some amazing support since the markets opened dramatically firming from $11 to $6. I like a roughie here, Rather Sweet (11) who has some solid wet track form, to run a nice race – at a big price. My Country (3) is another one resuming after the Brisbane Winter Carnival and looks a promising type – but can it handle the heavy track?

Selections: 12-11-8-3 rough chances 6 and 7.

****************************************************************************************************

Race 7 – Chelmsford Stakes (Group 2)

The super mare Winx (7) is second up here and will be tough to beat and the betting says so as well having her at the short price of $1.15. I think the danger is Hartnell (3) who can handle the wet going. I liked the runs of Spiritjim (6) over the Brisbane Carnival and with some solid wet track form it could sneak a place at a huge price.

Selections: 7-3-6-8.

***************************************************************************************************

Race 8 – Tramway Stakes (Group 2)

I like Sadler’s Lake (5) here to win – it has a great second up record and does like wet tracks. Dibayani (9) has a tremendous second up record – never out or of the first three at each second up start. It has some good wet weather form as well. It has been well backed from $8 to $5 since betting has opened. Le Romain (1) is another that will handle the wet track and goes well second up.

Selections 5-9-1-10.

****************************************************************************************************

Race 9 – Concorde Stakes (Group 3)

The Brisbane trained Hidden Pearl (10) has been smashed in early markets from $11 to $4.60. She will be out in front for a long way here. Bridget Grylls makes the trip to the big smoke of Randwick to see is she can post a hat tricks of wins on the mare. I am going to tip Federal (5) to beat her on the heavy track. He put in a great run in the QTC Cup in Brisbane over the Winter Carnival. Japoniseme (1) was unlucky in Brisbane running a gallant third to Malaguerra in the BTC Cup back in May – he is first up here and is sure to run well. Boss Lane (6) has a great second up record and is another horse that will appreciate the heavy conditions. It is a tough race to finish off the day.

Selections 5-1-10-6.

****************************************************************************************************

Early Quaddie (races 2 to 5) 2,4,10 / 2,3,6 / 4,6,11 / 5,9 - cost $54 for $1.

Quaddie (races 6 to 9) 3,8,11,12 / 7 / 1,5,9 / 1,5,10 - cost $36 for $1

Value Quaddie (races 6 to 9) 11,12 / 7 / 1,5,9 / 1,5,10 - cost $18 for $1

Mad Quaddie 11,12 / 7 / 1,5 cost $4 for $1

NSW BIG 6 (races 4 to 9) 4,6,11 / 5 / 8,11,12 / 7 / 1,5,9 / 1,5,10 - cost $81 for $1

Treble (races 7 to 9) 7 / 1,5,9 / 1,5,10 -cost $9 for $1

Jockeys Challenge

Looks like it is one way traffic - with Hugh Bowman dominating the meeting – he should finish with around 15 points.
