WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, OCTOBER 29

By Darren Winningham | Thursday, October 27, 2016

This week we are back at Eagle Farm – the track is rated as “Good” and the rail is out 6m for the entire course.

Last week my best bet of the day Bidii Babe saluted and we got a few other nice winners across the meeting.

I see that Chris Dell has ended his time in Brisbane this week and headed back home to New Zealand – we wish him well.

In other racing news – the talented and always smiling Lani Fancourt makes her comeback on Friday night at the Sunshine Coast meeting before backing up on Saturday at Eagle Farm.

Lani had a bad fall at the 2015 New Years Eve meeting at Toowoomba and has fought back through some adversity and setbacks to get back in the saddle.

I cannot wait to snap that cheeky smile and the poking out of the tongue when I see her next – welcome back Lani and good luck!

Finally a special shout out to the new dynamic training partnership formed on the Sunshine Coast with father and son Dale and Billy Healey.

Last weekend they saddled up a nice two year old 'I am Venus'. It was drawn barrier from 16 and had Jimmy Orman on it – so I left it out under sufferance. The team proved me wrong and the filly saluted at the nice odds of $17. So congratulations on your first city winner as team – team Healey – a training partnership to be watched in coming months!

NB *As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

Race 1

Looks like race book order for the first race this week. Balboa Rocks (1) is two wins from two starts here at Eagle Farm. Despite the rise in weight I think he should get the job done again this week. Kubis (2) ran second to “Rocky” (Balboa Rocks) last start and looks the likely danger here. Spring Tycoon (3) and Mr Bon Vibrant (4) have been working through their grades nicely and should fill the placings. There is a whisper around for the Desleigh Forster trained Meadow (7) who won a maiden last start at Doomben – the in form Robbie Fradd takes the ride.

Selections: 1-2-3-4

Race 2

I keep tipping in these two year old races and my second tip seems to be getting up a lot lately. Matthew Dunn has two engaged here – Arrestar (3) and Saxton Rock (10) to be ridden by the dynamic South African duo of Robbie Fradd and Jeff Lloyd respectively. Both have trialled nicely in preparation for this first up race. Porcini (9) is trained by Steve O’Dea and looks a nice type who won a recent barrier trial at Deagon. The Mark Webb trained Acceptile (2) won first up at Eagle Farm a few weeks ago and may just go on with that great win again this week.

Selections: 10-9-3-2

*************************************************************************************************

Race 3

This is a tough race with many chances. There has some gear changes on Archytas (7) and Banda Spice (12) and both have had some support in early markets. I like the Kelso Wood trained Abracadash (6), drawn a little wide here but Luke Dittman goes back on this week and he has a two rides for two wins record on the mare. I did see this mare dominate and destroy a field at Grafton over the July Carnival. I think this grade is perfect and at nice odds of $7 I will be having something on here.

The danger is Alpen Rose (4) – who was narrowly beaten two starts ago by Privlaka here over the same distance. Invincible Express (9) is the favourite and has met with some solid support since the markets have opened – the mare is trained by David Vandyke on the Sunshine Coast and has won her last three starts since resuming from a spell.

Morning Fog (10) has put in two solid performances at the track in her last two starts and may be able to sneak a place here. Desert Man (17) is the fifth emergency and has been well found in the early markets – if the gelding gets a run and gets any luck from the bad barrier draw it may test these and win the race.

Selections: 6-4-9-10 and 17 if it gets the run

**************************************************************************************************

Race 4

Shamfrancisco (2) has been racing consistently and will be sent out a short priced favourite in this race – she looks hard to beat. Sheiswhatsheis (6) trained by Tony Gollan, will lead here and with Tegan Harrison on board and may be hard to run down if she gets some cheap sectionals in front. Alaskan Wolf (4) is trained at Wyong in NSW and won her first Queensland start at the Gold Coast a few weeks ago. Notonyourlife (5) is the other Gollan runner coming off an impressive Doomben midweek win looking to step up to Saturday grade this weekend. Col ‘n’ Lil (1) is first up here and can race fresh over a shorter distance – it is the class runner and with speed on may run home late.

Selections: 2-6-4-5 rough chance 1

**************************************************************************************************

Race 5

Lever Lever (7) tried to lead all the way last start and just got beaten in the shadow of the post – Jeff Lloyd retains the ride this week and it looks the standout here. Tralee Chorus (6) has been in winning form recently and looks like the increased distance will suit her style of racing. Just Keep Giving (10) was disappointing last start at Eagle Farm when sent out favourite – there seemed to be no excuses for the performance. Look out for a better run this week.

Selections: 7-6-10-1

**************************************************************************************************

Race 6

Class 3 race again this week over 1830metres – I am keeping my money in my pocket. For the record I am tipping Scrabble (12) at some nice odds to upset the short priced favourite Saga Miss (8). Scrabble does get back in his races but with some luck and some speed on early in this race he could be the one to be powering home late. Saga Miss (8) is trained by Peter and Will Hulbert (another father and son team) and is looking for a hat trick of wins here after two impressive performances at the Gold Coast in recent weeks. Dale and Billy Healey have I’ll Take The Jag (2) engaged here and the gelding has been racing consistently and has a nice run on the board here at Eagle Farm – a good each way chance here. Could history be created with two father and son teams running first and second in this race? Stay tuned!

Selections: 12-8-2-5 rough chance 14

**************************************************************************************************

Race 7

One Inch Punch (8) was beaten last start by the large weight. This week a jockey change with Josh Oliver on board and a three kilogram allowance may see the gelding return to the winners circle. Sharpe Hussler (12) returned to winning form last start over 1300metres here – the Brad Smith trained gelding on the minimum is sure to be in the finish somewhere. Jimmy Orman retains the ride. Punta Norte (6) won well over the course and distance last start. Glen Colless takes the ride this week and despite being up in class will be racing on the speed for a long way and hard to hold out.

Allknight Saint (9) trained by Brad Herne has the services of Jeff Lloyd who could win on a broomstick at the moment – the gelding is at massive odds of $17 and could be the blow out runner here. Mr Jetset (10) was narrowly defeated two weeks ago by Punta Norte – he made a lot of ground late but just ran out of time on that occasion. It is a pretty even field here and you may have to go wide in your trebles and quaddies this week! Lani Fancourt rides Frespanol (2) here for her boss Tony Gollan – I wish her well it would be a true fairytale to see her salute at her first Saturday meeting back after a serious injury.

Selections: 8-12-6-9 rough chance 10

*******************************************************************************************************

Race 8

I think the two Bruce Hill runners here may be hard to toss in the last race – Man of His Word (5) and Taillevent (7). Man of His Word has blinkers on for the first time and Jeff Lloyd renews his successful association with the gelding this week. There has been some solid support for the Rex Lipp trained In His Stride (8) firming from $16 early in the week to $7 currently – you know what they say where there is smoke ....! One cannot forget the amazing run and time run by Most Important (3) the other weekend at Doomben – but can the gelding put in another performance like that at the Eagle Farm track? If he runs a time like that here he will be winning by 4 lengths! There is a dual acceptor here that I mentioned earlier in my preview – Desert Man (15) is drawn nicely in barrier 2 and is down on the minimum. I think that this Kelly Schweida trained gelding is a nice type.

Selections: 5-7-3-15 rough chance 8

*******************************************************************************************************

Early Quaddie (Races 1 to 4 NSW TAB only) 1,2 / 3,9,10 / 4,6,9 / 2,6 - cost is $36 for $1

Quadrella (races 5 to 8) 6,7 / 2,8,12 / 6,8,9,12 / 3,5,7,15 - cost is $96 to $1

Mad Quaddie (races 5 to 8) 7 / 8,12 / 8,12 / 5,7 - cost is $8 to $1

Treble (races 6 to 8 2,8,12 / 6,8,9,12 / 3,5,7,15 cost is $48 to $1

Jockey Challenge

This week it looks like an easy win to Jeff Lloyd with a nice book of rides.

Good luck and good punting!
