SCST SEPT 06 - IMPROVED EFFORT FROM MR SOLITARY

By Graham Potter | Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Sunshine Coast, September 6, 2009.
Track - Good 3. Rail - True.
Class 1 Handicap - 1400m. Time: 1-25.66.
1 Mr Solitary; 2 Loves A Challenge; 3 Queen Of Bling.

The Jason McLachlan trained Mr Solitary scored an overdue win here. The four-year-old landed with the speed and was held out wide for the first 200m after from jumping from the worst of the draw, but he assumed command once jockey Danny Craven allowed him to slide forward into the lead.

The four-year-old then proceeded to dictate the course of events and he maintained a lively enough gallop in the home straight to leave the opposition chasing.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Jason McLachlan: “I backed him up quickly last time and I don’t think he appreciated it. We didn’t really have an option with the wide alley. He had to slide forward. He’s hasn’t got the best strike-rate, but I still think this horse will be alright.”

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT
Golden Gleams (M. Hellyer) was slow to begin. Near the 550m, Williamstown (I. Coombes) improved onto the heels of Vistula Belle (B. El-Issa) and had to be steadied. Famous Cry (J. Bowditch) had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. Quite Stylish (D. Gill), Sylect (M. Dorrington), Pe Te Cruiser (K. Sawyers) and Craiglea Ruby (A. Kitson) all raced wide throughout.
