I'd be more than happy to put my money on Houtzen to beat She Will Reign.

Houtzen has been resting since completing a slick hatrick of summer wins which included the Magic Millions.

Unbeaten she is, as is She Will Reign who has been comprehensive on the Sydney front with the last-to-first Silver Slipper victory on the weekend.

Their clash will first happen in the Golden Slipper on March 18 with the two fillies aiming at different races on the weekend of March 4 and 5.

Far from suggesting its a two horse race but comparing their records draws two significant points.

Houtzen is proven at 1200m. She Will Reign is not.

Houtzen is a faultless, if not, brilliant beginner. She Will Reign is not.

And I'd even say a bad barrier draw wouldn't dent my confidence with Houtzen.

Fellow HRO columnist John Schreck would be loath to compare the pair.

That's probably drawing a long bow (but I will) from the "Sheriff's" comments in his most recent column that it was dangerous territory to draw a comparison between the penalties of Josh Cartwright (18 month suspension) and James MacDonald (18 month disqualification).

While respecting the opinion, I thought it was somewhat naive to think I and others would not appreciate they were two different cases and not all of the evidence was at our disposal.

Of course, they can't be compared "per se" but they are both jockeys who both committed misdemeanours and both were penalised.

Significantly, both pleaded guilty to their actions. Penalty was the only issue at stake.

And, to repeat, both penalties cannot be right.

One is right and one is wrong in my book despite not being privy to the evidence tendered.

And I'm not saying which one is right or which one is wrong.
