RHILL SEPT 12 - HOT DANISH IS ALL CLASS

By HRO | Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Rosehill, September 12, 2009.
Research Stakes (Group 3 - 3yo and up, Fillies and Mares) - 1200m. Time 1-10.64.
Track - Good. Margins: 0.50, 1.00
1 Hot Danish, 2 Madame Pedrille, 3 Beaucoup.

Hot Danish once again proved what a terrific mare she is by carrying 61kg and sitting three wide throughout to take out this Group 3 event.

First up for over four months, jockey Tim Clark allowed the mare to settle where she was
comfortable which resulted in her being wide throughout, but with her sheer determination and
the will to win there was never a problem.

This victory took Hot Danish's record to 18 starts for 11 wins and 3 seconds and took her earnings to in excess of $1 million.

Runner up Madame Pedrille, who had an 8kg pull at the weights with the winner, was held up in the
straight and charged late when clear ensuring there will be plenty of support for her to turn the tables next time.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Les Bridge: "She's a good mare! She never got on the track... three wide the
whole way ... 61kg you can't do more than that. He worries me Tim (Clark), he thinks she can do anything - up to date she can".

Jockey Tim Clark: “That’s what good horse do. They get the crowds here and I’m just so happy that she could produce and win like she did.

“It probably ended up working out for me (being held wide) even though I covered a bit of ground. They went very slow and I was just sort of able to dictate the race where I was. I was able to chose when I wanted to go. We went when I wanted to go. To her credit she dug deep. She got tired the last 50, but she was entitled to.”

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Madame Pedrille was held up for a run and could not be fully tested until near the 150m. Close to the line Alverta was awkwardly positioned on the heels of Madame Pedrille, which shifted out.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Fritz’s Princess, J Cassidy stated that the mare was not suited to the lack of pace in the race and then was obliged to race four wide throughout. He added that nevertheless Fritz’s Princess was disappointing and was a beaten horse on straightening.

J Cassidy further stated that Fritz’s Princess’s best runs, in his opinion, had been on softer tracks than today’s surface. A post race veterinary examination of Fritz’s Princess revealed the mare to be displaying a poor post race recovery. Trainer Mr K Lees undertook to report the results of a full veterinary check and to advise on the future race plans for Fritz’s Princess.
