JACKSON MURPHY SCORES BREAK-THROUGH WIN

By Darren Winningham | Saturday, July 21, 2018

Talented apprentice Jackson Murphy broke through for his maiden Saturday metropolitan win on San Telmo for the John Symons and Sheila Laxon training partnership in the first race at Doomben on Saturday.

San Telmo was the 66th winner for the season for this talented apprentice.

Murphy commenced his apprenticeship with Grant Prosser at Wauchope on the Mid North Coast of NSW before moving to Queensland where he has been riding across South East Queensland but predominantly on the Gold Coast at Saturday meetings.

He is apprenticed to Chris Anderson at Eagle Farm and has been rapidly rising through the apprentice ranks in the past 12 months.

Anderson was full of praise after the race commenting, “he is a credit to himself and he is a very hard working young man. We identified him early and he seems to be a very good talent”. Anderson praised Jake Hull for identifying Jackson Murphy and said that his judgement was very good.

Many other good judges think that Murphy is a genuine chance to taking out the 2018/19 apprentice jockeys premiership in Brisbane.
