WINNO'S WINNERS: DOOMBEN, DECEMBER 15, 2018

By Darren Winningham | Thursday, December 13, 2018

The track is rated “GOOD” (Thursday morning) and the rail will be out 4 metres for the entire course this weekend … BUT … there is a severe weather warning for storms – rain and the like all weekend in South East Queensland. The track may deteriorate rapidly and, if we get that far, the mud larks may have a distinct advantage!

With that in mind I have just done numbers this week for my selections – as anything could happen!

Plus, I am a bit tired after the recent trip to the Hong Kong races and a brief trip up into China! I’m sure you will understand.

NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day.

Race 1

I like the Munce Racing Saint Patricks Day (8). He is fourth up this weekend – Ronnie Stewart in the saddle and he handles a wet track.

Selections: 8-4-3-9 rough chances 9 & 11

Race 2

Not a race I am keen on.

Nordic Show (10) appeals to me- Jackson Murphy in the saddle coming off a winning double last weekend. Trained at the Gold Coast by Mel Eggleston and this mare loves wet tracks!

Selections: 10-9-5-7 rough chance 8 & 12

*************************************************************************************************

Race 3

A good race here.

Bluebrook (3) will be ridden by Jimmy Orman for the Kelly Schweida stables – they have been in great form in recent weeks. Plus, anything with the word “BLUE” in it must be a winner! I ran into owner Darren Wilson in Hong Kong – he probably needs the win to pay for his trip!

Auerbach (2) ran home well last start – maybe the logical danger.

Selections: 3-2-12-13

***************************************************************************************************

Race 4

I am sticking solid here with Eleven Eleven (6) from the Greg Hickman stables. He ran a nice race on debut at Doomben two weeks ago. I note that he won a very good trial at Warwick Farm on a heavy track. If the track deteriorates, he will be right in this!

Sun City (2) from the Tony McEvoy stables (who won the 2018 Magic Millions) is making his debut here. The stable does have a wrap on this one. He may need the run but he will be ready to fire come Magic Millions time!

Selections: 6-2-1-10

**************************************************************************************************

Race 5

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott have Single Blonde (7) looking for a win in this feature race to claim a spot in the 2019 Magic Millions in a months’ time. Her debut was nothing to write home about but I think she would have derived some benefit from that run and will be ready to show her best here second up.

The top weight Courseshewill (1) won on a heavy track impressively leading all the way. She will handle the soft conditions so it may pay to follow this one if the track is wet.

Selections: 7-1-2-12

***************************************************************************************************

Race 6

Look I know Houtzen is special (1) but I just think if the track is wet, she may struggle. She is CLASS but the weight may be the telling factor. Toby Edmonds probably is relieved right about now as I haven’t tipped her to win!

I am going for a noted mudlark in Ringo’s A Rockstar (8). With the speed on I think he will sit in behind them and storm home late with Dale Smith aboard.

Havasay (2) has the addition of blinkers for this start – watch out for an improved effort.

Then you have the winner of the recent 2018 Cannonball Series at Kilcoy – Zouzouzakia (11) owned by Con Searle and trained by Kevin Kemp. She won well at Kilcoy and she loves wet tracks and gets in with no weight and is $151 in the early markets!

Selections: 8-1-2-4 rough chance 11

**************************************************************************************************

Race 7

Mishani Bullitt (8) is trained by Les Kelly and has trialled well.

Looks Like Elvis (7) I tipped first up. I am staying solid again – he likes a wet track and with some genuine speed in the race he is sure to be in this race when the judge calls a halt.

It is a tough and open affair!

Selections: 8-7-10-6 rough chances 11 & 12

**************************************************************************************************

Race 8

This race is at set weights.

I think the Tony Gollan trained pair have it between them – Zoustyle (1) and Outback Barbie (7). I do not think there is much between them – but I think the filly has some improvement left in her after her wonderful dominant performance first up 2 weeks ago.

Selections: 7-1-2-3 rough chance 8

*************************************************************************************************

Race 9

Niccanova (4) loves a wet track. He won well last start – I can see him in for a strong preparation. A nice way for trainer Steve Tregea and jockey Jimmy Orman to finish off the day. This runner will dramatically shorten if the rain comes and the track deteriorates.

My roughie two weeks ago was Aqua Vite (10). He is $31 this week and represents great each way value – he loves the wet tracks as well and I see Robbie Fradd is back in Brisbane after his recent stint in Mauritius to partner this one!

Selections: 4-2-6-9 rough chance 10

**************************************************************************************************

Jockey Challenge

I think Jeff Lloyd may just pip Jim Byrne this weekend.

Early Quaddie (races 2 to 5 NSW only)

5,9,10 / 2,3,12 / 1,2,6 / 1,2,7 - cost is $81 to $1

Quaddie (races 6 to 9)

1,2,8 / 6,7,8,10 / 1,2,7 / 2,4,6,9,10 - cost is $180 to $1

Value Quaddie (races 6 to 9)

1,8 / 6,7,8 / 2,7 / 2,4,10 - cost is $36 to $1

Treble (races 7 to 9)

6,7,8,10 / 1,2,7 / 2,4,6,9,10 - cost is $60 to $1

FLEMO v WINNO

WINNO claimed a lucky win last weekend in the Flemo / Winno tipping competition. Remember to check out our last-minute tips and preview on Facebook on Saturday morning after the track and final scratchings have been sorted out!

Good luck and good punting!
