HONG KONG RACES – FWD CHAMPIONS DAY 2019

Well the FWD Champions Day in Hong Kong are fast approaching – in fact the day is set down for this Sunday at Sha Tin (28 April).

Guess what – WINNO and the HRO boss Graham Potter have got a call up to attend the FWD Champions Day! What a wonderful program is scheduled. It features …

FWD QEII CUP - Group 1 - $24 million (HK)prizemoney

FWD CHAMPION’S MILE – Group 1 - $18 million (HK) prizemoney

CHAIRMAN’S SPRINT PRIZE – Group 1 - $16 million (HK) prizemoney

We will be representing HORSERACINGONLY on this prestigious day of racing in Hong Kong. Reporting live – photos – tips – interviews and keeping you all up to date in Australia of the wonderful Carnival held in Hong Kong at this time each year.

The LONGINES International race day in December was an amazing experience. I cannot wait to be in Hong Kong with Graham for this wonderful opportunity granted to us by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The fields for all three Group 1 races look very competitive but I must say I am looking forward to seeing the Hong Kong Champion Beauty Generation - trained by John Moore and to be ridden by Zac Purton - take his place in the FWD Champion’s Mile looking for nine consecutive wins. I know it is not 33 wins like WINX – but I was in awe in December when this runner won the LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (Group 1).

In the Chairman’s Sprint Australia will have wonderful and competitive representation through Santa Ana Lane, trained by Anthony Freedman, and Viddora, trained by Lloyd Kennewell. Both are Group 1 winners and should be right in the race.

The supporting racing program on the day also looks very competitive, and I will be looking for the opportunity to speak to trainers and jockeys about their rides in the feature races.

The bags are being packed, the passport secured and plenty of Aussie Dollars loaded in the wallet and I am heading to the airport on Wednesday to board the plane and head to Hong Kong.

We look forward to bringing you all the up to date news and any other information we can provide.

Stay tuned for our tips and stories over the next week.

That is all for now – see you all in Hong Kong next weekend!
