WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, SEPTEMBER 7

By Darren Winningham | Thursday, September 5, 2019

Eagle Farm this weekend with the track rated “GOOD.” The rail is out 5 metres for the entire course. The weather looks hot – damn HOT! The track should be on fire on Saturday.

There were some rough results last weekend here – let’s hope the punters fare better this time around.
A special shout out this week to Claire Farrow and Mitchell Speers who have tied the knot at Hamilton island – congratulations to you both!

Well nine races for decision – it is time for my preview.

NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

**************************************************************************************************

Race 1

Miss Shanti (11) is racing consistently – back to the 1825 metres this week she looks a solid way to start the day off. She has been racing over the longer distances and I think this distance is more her go. The Chris Waller stables from the Gold Coast had a successful weekend here last weekend with a trio of winners.

Picaro (3) is coming from the Sydney yards of Gary Portelli and will appreciate the hard track – he has the added services of Michael Cahill who is riding in superb form.

Partnership (5) is trained by Ethan Ensby who has been having some good success of late around the Northern tracks of NSW. He is first up after a short freshen up but could cause a major upset here at $31.

Vihari (8) is second up and may need the run – but she has raced well fresh in the past.

Advance Warning (9) from Gollan Racing team was disadvantaged by the speed in the race last start at the Sunshine Coast – I would strongly overlook that run and with some speed in this race here this weekend he is a genuine contender with Jake Bayliss aboard.

Selections: 11-3-9-8 rough chance 5

**************************************************************************************************

Race 2

I think winning form may be good form here so I am staying with the Stephen Lee trained Polemic (11) who comes off a solid win last start on the Gold Coast – coming slightly back in distance but I cannot see this being a problem.

The Tax Accountant (7) backs up after a solid effort last weekend – a mile should be right up his alley.

Trevelyan (8) ran a great second here to Looks Like Elvis three weeks ago – Robbie Fradd remains aboard for this run.

Zofonic Dancer (2) was first up last start and ran a wonderful race – Nick Keal takes 3 kilograms off this Anderson Heathcote Racing runner – watch for a dramatic improvement at massive odds!

Selections: 11-8-7-2 rough chances 1 & 3

**************************************************************************************************

Race 3

Clockwise (2) ran a great second last start - a repeat of that performance and she should post a win here.

The Kris Lees Racing trained Tycoon Street (4) has been smashed in the betting opening at $10 in some markets and is now into $4.80. She was sent out favourite last start at the Sunshine Coast and ran average – the blinkers go on here this weekend so there must be some confidence with this gear change – it may pay to follow the $$.

Smug Satisfaction (10) has the addition of a crossover nose band for this run – she was average second up last start on her home track on the Gold Coast. However, she has a great third up record – she will appreciate the large Eagle Farm track as well.

Selections: 2-4-10-5

***************************************************************************************************

Race 4

The Open sprint and the return of The Candy Man (1) – probably too short for him but Barry Baldwin has big plans for him this Spring.

I like Snoopy (2) to improve again this week at a track where he has performed well previously.

Scallopini (3), from Steven O’Dea Racing, resumes here and comes off a strong trial performance three weeks ago. He goes well here with two wins and a second from three starts.

Snitz (6) is second up and ran well first up – he looked like had some improvement in him and will be running home strongly this weekend.

Selections: 2-3-6-7

**************************************************************************************************

Race 5

Miss Cavallo (1) is second up here after a nice run first up at her home track in Toowoomba. I think that she has the best form in the race and will be ready to go hard this weekend.

Grand Zou from Edmonds Racing was very impressive winning her maiden at the Sunshine Coast – he got plenty of favours in the running last start but faces a steep rise in class this weekend. Can he go on with that win?

Lady Appleton (8) has won her past two starts after resuming from a spell for Barry Baldwin. She looks progressive.

Profit (6) is looking to post his second career win after winning his maiden on debut at the Sunshine Coast – maybe a knockout chance here.

Selections: 1-7-8-6

***************************************************************************************************

Race 6

The first leg of the Quaddie.

Dreamtimer (13) just ran out of time last weekend to post a win over 1200 metres – this weekend he steps up to 1400 metres with Nick Keal in the saddle again – he looks well placed.

Sienna Rose (6) put in an amazing effort a fortnight ago to come from nearly last and storm down the outside to win easily with Stephanie Thornton in the saddle. It was a great ride – one that, if is repeated this weekend will, see her feature strongly in the finish again.

I can’t see much else troubling the judge here – may pay to go narrow in our first leg!

Selections: 13-6-5-14

**************************************************************************************************

Race 7

Sanglier (10) resumes from a spell and trialled well recently. He has never gone well first up, but I think that he will be placed in a prominent position by Ronnie Stewart and will be difficult to run down late.

The stable mate is Lifesaver (10) who is racing fresh after an 11-week break. He always races well first up.

Capital Connection (2) resumed and went well first up as he was caught wide in the running after being a victim of circumstances – they have taken the tongue tie off for this run. Maybe that will assist with a strong effort.
Cool Consequence resumes here and won a trial a fortnight ago and will sprint well fresh.

Selections: 12-2-10-3 rough chance 9

***************************************************************************************************

Race 8

An Open class race over the mile.

Joseph Pride has New Tipperary (1) and La Chica Belle (13) in this race. New Tipperary (1) resumed over 1800 metres and I think struggled at that distance – back to a mile I think he is well treated at the weights and looks a strong contender here.

Magnufighter (4) comes back to a mile this weekend where he does his best work. He loves fast tracks and I think will be in the finish.

Kubis (3) resumed with a strong effort – his second up record is not that flash but he goes well at Eagle Farm and cannot be left out. The Anderson-Heathcote team and Dale Smith reunite here this weekend looking for another knock out win.

Impasse (15) stormed home last start over 1350 metres and gave the impression that a mile would be right up his alley – however, he has never won over the mile.

Selections: 1-4-15-3 rough chance 13

**************************************************************************************************

Race 9

A tough way to end the day – a no metro win race over 1200 metres and a massive field!

Kris Lees trains Exdream (17) that won last week at Ipswich – a quick back up, drawn in barrier 1 and down in the weights I like him to post another win.

Constant Flight (3) resumed with a strong win at Doomben – he is second up here and looks well placed by David Vandyke.

Park Chinois (11), trained by Kelly Schweida, is resuming this weekend after a strong barrier trial a fortnight ago. He is $19 and could be a rough chance to knock out the favoured runners.

Selections: 17-3-11-4

Looks like a close tussle between Matthew McGillivray and Robbie Fradd with a rough hope in apprentice Nick Keal. I may go with Matthew this week.
