IPSW OCT 01 - TYCOON TATTOO LEAVES HIS MARK

By Graham Potter | Friday, October 2, 2009

Ipswich, October 1, 2009.
Track - Good 3. Rail - True.
3yo QTIS Maiden Plate (Set Weights) - 800m. Time: 45.34.
1 Tycoon Tattoo; 2 Meddler; 3 Mitayden.

This was a massacre. The first-timer Tycoon Tattoo took no prisoners as he shot his rivals to pieces with a display of aggressive acceleration which carried him away to a win on debut which could not have been more decisive.

The three-year-old was slow away after being hampered at the start, but that hardly translated into a hiccup as he rallied so quickly that he immediately nullified that disadvantage. Tycoon Tattoo then speared straight to the front and, once there, the race was effectively over as the gelding showed no sign of letting up as he ground his opposition into the turf to score by a clear-cut three length margin.

WINNER FEEDBACK:
Trainer Tony Sears: “Oh yeah, we thought it would win like that. He’s had a trial. He won a trial at Gatton and I’m given him a pretty easy time. No, we expected him to do that.

“We were just a just a bit worried whether he’d jump. The biggest hurdle he had was jumping!”

STEWARDS REPORT EXTRACT:
Trainer M. Palmer was fined $50 for presenting Ivan's Choice to the enclosure with incorrect gear. Give It A Shov (M. Speers) was slow to begin. Craiglea Hummer (L. Cassidy) jumped away very awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with Tycoon Tattoo (B. Pengelly). Meddler (J. Taylor) and Magic Turbo (K. Banks) were tightened for room at the start between Craiglea Hummer and Pretzels (M. Hellyer), which shifted out abruptly. Both Pretzels and Craiglea Hummer raced greenly in the early stages.

After passing the 500m, Bent Penny (J. Murphy) had to be eased when tightened for room between Craiglea Hummer, which shifted out, and Ballyhew Treasure (B. Powell), which shifted in. Pretzels (M. Hellyer) was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
