WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, NOVEMBER 2, 2019

By Darren Winningham | Thursday, October 31, 2019

EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2019

Eagle Farm this weekend with the track rated “GOOD” with the rail out 6 metres. The day features some very small fields but there are many genuine chances in them. With the spotlight on Day 1 of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the great racing in Sydney I will be brief this week.

NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

Race 1

Magstock (3) trained by Kelly Schweida backs up this weekend after running over a mile last week. The 1830 metres of this race looks ideal for him after he stormed home late last weekend. A jockey change. With Jackson “McLovin” Murphy riding in China this weekend Stephanie Thornton is aboard – she could win on a broomstick at the moment!

Tactee (5) comes off a solid run last weekend as well. She is up in grade and down in the weights. She surely must be a chance of winning this weekend!

Selections:

3 – Magstock
5 – Tactee
1 – Sir Barnabus
2 – Mishani Machine

Race 2

The two-year-old runners step out here – a small field with the only runner with exposed form being Rothfire (1), trained by Rob Heathcote. He did beat Gotta Kiss last start who looks a nice type. He will be competitive again this weekend.

Edmonds Racing on the Gold Coast start a debutant here - Wisdom of Water (7) – who has been super impressive in both his trials, winning the last trial by 7 lengths at the Gold Coast. Robbie Fradd to ride! Is this son of Headwater the Queensland hope for the 2020 Magic Millions? We will find out on Saturday!

Selections:

7 – Wisdom Of Water
1 – Rothfire
6 – Way Beyond
4 – Married to the Mob

Race 3

Another small field here.

The Gollan / Nothdurft team combine here with Capital Connection (1) who comes off a strong win a month ago at Doomben. He looks well placed.

Gatlinburg (7) ran well here a fortnight ago. He looks the likely danger.

Selections:

1 – Capital Connection
7 – Gatlinburg
3 – Piracy
6 – Bachelors Art

Race 4

An open field here. The undefeated Flaming Boss (7) from the Tony & Maddy Sears stable steps up to a city debut and will need to improve again from his past two wins.

Pizonie (8), trained by Tony Gollan, won a recent trial – he loves these short distance races.

Contemptuous (9) is a lightly raced colt from the Steven O’Dea stables. He is looking to keep his undefeated record alive here too this weekend.

Now if you are sceptical of any of these three runners you may be best placed to back the Schweida trained Racing The Tenor (4) who has the form on the board – I think he goes better over 1000 metres as well. Jimmy Orman to ride.

Selections:

7 – Flaming Boss
8 – Pizonie
9 – Contemptuous
4 – The Tenor

Race 5

Tony Gollan has a genuine opportunity to get the trifecta here with his runners.

I like Shalwa (5) who won here a fortnight ago defeating the stablemate Cailini (7) who she meets again here this weekend. The other Gollan runner is Hollaback Girl (3) who has been backed in the early markets.

Enterprise Louise (8) resumes here for Mick Lakey. She raced well over the winter carnival and should run well here fresh with Brad Stewart in the saddle.

Selections:

5 – Shalwa
7 – Cailini
8 – Enterprise Louise
11 – Sukwhinder
Rough chances 3 & 4

Race 6

Tony Gollan has some great chances here in Ready To Roam (7) and Howwonderfullifeis (3). I like the chances of Ready To Roam (7) to turn the tables on his stable mate this weekend – he will be some good odds as well. Jim Byrne will ride him again.

Xanthus (2) deops back from 1400 metres to 1200 metres. I think this will be beneficial to his chances.

The Odyssey (1) has been scratched from an earlier race to run here – so the Schweida team must be confident! Stephanie Thornton is in the saddle and her claim will help his chances. He looked unlucky last start and will strip fitter for that run.

Selections:

7 – Ready To Roam
2 – Xanthus
1 – The Odyssey
3 – Howwonderfullifeis
Rough chance 4

Race 7

We race over a mile here.

Steven O’Dea trains Francisca (12). He has applied blinkers on her for the first time. I think this gear change will see her finally get into the winners stalls this weekend.

River Flyer (7) is trained by Les Ross and comes off a solid win last start at the Gold Coast.

Storm Harbour (8) has some solid form over a mile and could show up here.

I think they named My Belly Button (9) after serial social media icon Paul Kramer (PK) who has not seen his belly button in over 40 years!

Selections:

12 – Francisca
7 – River Flyer
8 – Storm Harbour
9 – My Belly Button
Rough chance 10

Race 8

The Gillian Heinrich trained Comic Story (3) normally races well fresh. I think he is a great each way bet with Brad Stewart to ride.

Take Tea (9), trained by Les Kelly, is looking for a hat trick of wins – Jim Byrne is in the saddle.

The race is a tough one – keep your eye on the market for any late betting action!

Selections:

3 – Comic Story
9 – Take Tea
4 – Valario
6 – Copywriter

Race 9

I like the NSW raider from Gosford trained by Tony Newing – Charmed Princess (11) - at good each way odds. She won the 2019 Grafton Guineas and I think that this big track and Matthew McGuren aboard she will be super competitive. The wide barrier may be a slight hinderance, but I think there is enough speed to give her a nice trail into the race.

Dreamreacher (12) won well here last start – could it be a Saturday race to race double for the Gillian Heinrich / Brad Stewart combination? He will be very competitive again. Drawn well he should get the run of the race.

Erringhi Spring (15) is trained by Barry Lockwood and is looking for a hat trick of wins. Boris Thornton retains the ride this weekend.

If you are looking for some value A Man to Watch (7) trained by Gollan Racing could race well fresh.

Selections:

11 – Charmed Princess
12 – Dreamreacher
15 – Erringhi Spring
7 – A Man to Watch
Rough chances 3 & 8

Race 10

Reckless Choice (9) is another Steven O’Dea runner who drops back from 1830 metres last start to 1400 metres. He has a superb record over the track and distance. Boris Thornton rides this runner and he could ride the last two winners on the program with any luck.

Deep Image (14), trained by Rob Heathcote, has drawn terrible in barrier 17. Robbie Fradd will need to be at his brilliant best to get this runner home. He has raced well here his past two starts.

Crafty Spirit (17) is a reserve and hopefully will make the field. He was great first up and battles home strong and he will strip fitter for that effort. Jake Bayliss is in the saddle – keep your eye on this one if he makes the field.

Selections:

9 – Reckless Choice
14 – Deep Image
17 – Crafty Spirit
10 – Auerbach
Rough chances 3 & 6

WINNO V FLEMO

FLEMO flogged me last weekend. But seriously the FLEMO’S post on Facebook was a bit much! For those who missed it:

“Ring the police because there has been a murder at Eagle Farm. Blue murder in fact! Fleming smashes Winningham in the tipping competition $26.20 to $6.60. I’m happy to be handicapped next week to give you some chance!”

Well in fairness he did tip a few winners – maybe 5 to be honest! But seriously that is a bit over the top FLEMO – I would never take the piss like that! But you did state one truth mate – you are at a disadvantage – you follow those filthy QLD Morons and the Broncos!

Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes and final scratchings!

Good luck and good punting!
