WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, 21 DECEMBER, 2019

By Darren Winningham | Friday, December 20, 2019

EAGLE FARM RACES – SATURDAY 21 DECEMBER 2019

Eagle Farm this weekend with the track rated “GOOD.” The rail is out 2 metres for the entire course this weekend.

I must wish my good mate (despite being a Queenslander) Jim Byrne all the best as he recovers after a fall with a busted leg. Mate, to you and your family – sincerely best wishes in your recovery. They say you cannot keep a good man down and I am certain that you will fight your way back to the top the healing process is complete.

How good was the TAB State Of Origin Series last weekend! An awesome win as well to the best team – NSW represented by Michael Rodd and Kathy O’Hara!

As this is the last lot of tips before X-mas. I would like to wish all the regular readers and hecklers MERRY X-MAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let’s hope SANTA empties his large TAB money sack at your place next week!

Let’s keep it brief.

NB: As this form assessment was made prior to race-day, please check final fields and track conditions for any changes on the day

****************************************************************************************************

Race 1

The two-year old’s step out here – most of looking for some extra $$ to make the final Magic Millions field.

I like the Steven O’Dea trained Gotta Kiss (5) to be ridden by Stephanie Thornton.

Selections:

5 – Gotta Kiss
1 – The Drinks Cart
4 – Lady Banff
2 – Anders

Race 2

Tough race – looking for something racing near the speed.

Tony Gollan Racing dominates the race with three genuine chances for a variety of reasons. I like the top weight Invincible Al (1) who drops back in class this start. Despite being hampered first up he still put in a great effort in the Listed Bribie where he still was solid.

Forgive Pizonie (10) his second up effort – he is well placed here.

Selections:

1 – Invincible Al
10 – Pizonie
5 – Ice Frost
7 – Rock Beat
Rough chance 2

Race 3

Another small field here.

The Rob Heathcote trained Guntantes (1) has been in fabulous form. They seem to have come up with a plan to ride him off the speed and he has been dominant in his past two wins.

Cellarmaid (3), from the Kelly Schweida Racing stables, will strip fitter after her effort a fortnight ago at Doomben whenresuming from a 6-week let up. She loves the mile here and must be respected. Jimmy Orman is in the saddle.

Selections:

1 – Guntantes
3 – Cellarmaid
7 – Ingear
2 – Rothenburg

Race 4

The distance race – ho hum! These are always tough!

Chris Anderson Racing is in great form recently. I think he has found the key to this runner - Equipped (10). He looks progressive and is looking for a hat trick of wins this weekend – Jimmy Orman has the ride.

Sir Barnabus (3) gets back to a track and distance that suits – keep him safe.

Selections:

10 – Equipped
3 – Sir Barnabus
8 – Picka Plum
5 – Ruby Guru
Rough Chance 11

Race 5 Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes

Our feature race – top class field as well.

I like Don’t Waiver (1), trained by Stuart Kendrick on the Sunshine Coast. I think he is well in at the weights and at a distance he has been screaming out for – good value as well at around the $7 mark. Robbie Fradd has a great record aboard him.

The two Sydney invaders are very lightly raced and look like they have plenty of upside to them. Mark Newnham trains Mission Phoenix (6). He looks like he will like the extra distance and Josh Parr has made the trip to Brisbane to partner him.

Gerald Ryan trains Chains Of Honour (5) who comes off a solid win at Kembla Grange and who must be taken into consideration here.

Selections:
1 – Don’t Waiver
6 – Mission Phoenix
5 – Chains of Honour
2 – Smart Meteor

Race 6

An open race here – tough way to start the Quaddie.

The Michael Costa trained Malahide (6) resumes from a spell and has had two solid trials in preparation for this run.

Only Wanna Sing (8) is around $41. I think, drawn barrier 1, he will race in behind the speed here this weekend. He has an admirable second up record and could fill a place at massive odds.

Mandela (13) is the favourite and has had two trials in Sydney before heading north for this run.

Selections:

6 – Malahide
8 – Only Wanna Sing
13 – Mandela
10 – Invigorating
Rough chance 7

Race 7

Munce Racing has Skate To Paris (3) going around here. This weekend she has the addition of the blinkers. Justin Huxtable rides and his claim will come in handy for this nice mare. I think Justin will look much better in the Munce Racing’s royal blue and southern cross star silks – rather than his striking yellow silks he wore on Monday at the Tim Bell Memorial Golf day.

Mewstone Rock (6) has been racing consistently and is the favourite for the race.

Selections:

3 – Skate To Paris
6 – Mewstone Rock
4 – Bellaria
7 – Sofie’s Gold Class
Rough chance 4

Race 8 Falvelon Quality Listed

This is an open race and I think a rough result could occur.

The James Cummings Godolphin runners are primed to step out here and make their presence felt. I like Isaurian (6) to win. He is undefeated first up and his trial at Randwick would suggest he will be very difficult to knock off here. Joshua Parr rides for the royal blue Godolphin and he will give this runner a peach!

The stable mate is Intuition (7) who comes off an unlucky Victorian campaign – watch for a marked improvement this weekend.

Scallopini (9) goes well here at Eagle Farm. Never out of a place at the track and with a solid recent trial win, he looks a great opportunity for Boris Thornton to post a Listed winner in Brisbane. I hope his celebration on return to scale is as colourful as his golfing outfit on Monday!

Do not leave out the Les Kelly trained Freddie Foxtrot (10). This runner has been a model of consistency and deserves to add a Listed win to his name. Mark Du Plessis is in the saddle.

Spurcraft (4) to be ridden by Bubba Tilley. He is the deserved favourite – just not sure how he will go over 1200 metres. If he wins I am sure the win will be as colourful as memorable as Bubba’s outfit on Monday at the golf!

Selections:

6 – Isaurian
9 – Scallopini
10 – Freddie Fox Trot
7 – Intuition
Rough chances 2 & 4

Race 9

The last race of the day – hopefully we have plenty to buy some Xmas prawns, ham and some drinks!

This must be the toughest race of the day!

Born Bad (14) comes off a solid win at the Gold Coast. This runner is trained by John & Chris Meagher. It is great to see Anthony Allen retaining the ride after his win on him at the Gold Coast. He is a very good rider that doesn’t get many chances in town these days – but he has been riding well at other meetings recently.

Love You Lucy (8) is trained by Barry Squair and will be ridden by Ron Goltz. Ron has won four times on this mare and has ridden her to victory in her past two starts at Toowoomba.

Keep Clockwise (10) safe here. She likes this track and normally shows up at massive odds. She is due to show something this preparation. She is second up after a short break.

Selections:

14 – Born Bad
8 – Love You Lucy
10 – Clockwise
5 – Colpo Di Tamburo

WINNO V FLEMO

FLEMO flogged again me last weekend. Now credit where credit is due – he did tip the first 6 winners – YES 6 WINNERS in a row! Well done mate a herculean effort!! I did manage a few winners – NSW in the Origin and Michael Rodd in the jockey’s challenge – we had a good day on the tip to be honest! Be sure to check the up to date and amended tips each Saturday morning on Facebook after any track changes and scratchings!

Good luck and good punting

Merry X-mas to you all!
