GOLLAN STABLE FLYING HIGH WITH TWO TREBLES AND TWO DOUBLES IN THE LAST EIGHT DAYS

By Graham Potter | Sunday, January 24, 2021

Queensland’s leading trainer Tony Gollan had to deal with the huge disappointment of the Isotope incident in last week’s Magic Millions Three-Year-Old Classic … but he would take tons of satisfaction out of the fact that the stable continues to fly high landing another three winners on the Doomben card on Saturday.

Jonker and Krone each won $1 million races at the Gold Coast last Saturday, Ingear and Whozyadeeler saluted at Eagle Farm on Thursday, If You Can Dream, Miami Fleiss and Jerry Zandra all won on Friday night at the Sunshine Coast and Saturdays treble certainly kept that momentum going as strongly as ever.

That is ten winners for the stable in the last eight days!

Gollan’s Doomben winners on Saturday were Garibaldi, Bleu Zebra and Socialising.

Garibaldi, who was completing a hat-trick of wins, started at $1.80 … the shortest priced favourite on the day.

“His mind just seemed to wander in races a little bit, so we gelded him,” said Gollan of Garibaldi. “I thought he was pretty unlucky that day he ran second first-up this prep … he had to make a pretty sustained run coming off a break. He is three from three since then.

“With 59kg (on Saturday) you didn’t want to be taking off wide and early, but Michael (Rodd) didn’t have a lot of options because they were shoving up underneath him.

“He has always shown me a great deal of ability right from the get-go.

“After his first run (and win on debut) we took him straight to Sydney which shows you what we thought of him. This horse can play a part in the Winter Carnival, I am positive of that.”

Garibaldi has now won four of his seventeen starts and his prize-money has pushed past the $200 000 mark.
