ZOU DANCER IMPRESSES WITH A FACILE GROUP 3 WIN

By Graham Potter | Saturday, February 13, 2021

Zou Dancer made it two on the trot with another facile win in the Group 3 Vanity at Flemington.

The Leon and Troy Corstens trained three-year-old stalked the pacemaker early before moving to the head of affairs as the field turned for home.

At that stage, Jamie Kah still had a hard hold on Zou Dancer as the opposition began lining up for a crack at the daughter of Zoustar. Approaching the 300m mark they were snapping at Zou Dancer’s heels, but their threat was just an illusion as, once Kah shook the reins and asked Zou Dancer to stretch out inside the final 300, it was ‘race over’ as Zou Dancer strode away to score an emphatic victory.

“I thought she could win today, but I didn’t expect her to win by five lengths,” said Troy Corstens.

“She sat up there. It was quite a nice speed early and she still managed to have plenty in the tank coming around the corner … and she kicked well.

“I’d say we’d have to start looking at the Guineas now.

“We don’t put the cart before the horse, so we haven’t talked beforehand about where we were going to head with her … but I’d say the Guineas is the way we are heading now.”

Zou Dancer was Jamie Kah’s second winner on the day, having already won the first race on the card with Quantum Mechanic.

‘The way she got to the leader was effortless,” said Kah, “and then she was probably waiting for them a little bit on the line today. It was just so easy.

“I couldn’t hear anything around me, but the way she was pricking her ears I thought something might be catching me, but, if something had come up and challenged her, she probably would have put another couple of lengths on them.

“She’s got a motor this girl.”
