TWO FROM TWO FOR WHOZYADEELER

By Graham Potter | Thursday, February 18, 2021

The lightly raced four-year-old Whozyadeeler made it two from two when he outclassed his rivals at in a Class 1 Handicap at Doomben.

The Tony Gollan trained son of Dundeel had similarly trounced his rivals on debut when stretching out to a 5.25 length win over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast on January 21.

Stepping up to 1350m here, Michael Rodd, ever the patient rider, settled Whozyadeeler back towards the rear of the field early, some six to seven lengths adrift of the leader, before moving closer to the action in the approach to the turn.

Rodd plotted a wide path as the field swept into the home straight … Whozyadeeler was the widest runner of a field tracking wide on the turn … and he then just took a moment to balance up his mount before unleashing a finishing burst which quickly took care of the opposition, putting the race safely in his keeping long before the runners crossed the line.

Stepping up in distance, chasing from well back, covering extra ground by going wide … a lot of boxes were ticked by Whozyadeeler in the win.

Equally, as it was achieved by a horse clearly still learning his craft, it also came with the promise of more to come.
