BLACK TYPE RACING AT BENDIGO AND ADELAIDE

By Matt Moore | Friday, March 26, 2021

Black type racing features in both Bendigo and Adelaide this weekend. At Bendigo we have the Guineas as well as The Golden Mile while in the City of Churches we have the Manihi Classic and the Claire Lindop Stakes. All 4 races are at Listed level. Adelaide is preparing for their Autumn Carnival kicking off at Morphettville on May 1.

BENDIGO: SOFT 7 TRACK RATING. RAIL TRUE.

RACE 7: BENDIGO GUINEAS OVER 1400M FOR THE 3YO’s AT SWP.

A field of 11 where the favourite is Annavisto for the Price/Kent team with Jamie Kah in the saddle. Annavisto is in super form with a win and a close second this prep. Draws Gate 8 and looks a good race for her.

I’m going with No 7 Mozzie Monster. He resumed in the Incognitus Stakes. The 1100m was too sharp. That race was won by Marboosha. Go back to her last prep where she ran in the Jim Maloney, The Tranquil Stakes and the 1000 Guineas. Odeum won the Jim Maloney and the 1000 Guineas. Both he and Marboosha are set for Group 1 action in Sydney tomorrow. This trip of 1400 looks to suit Mozzie Monster from Gate 11. Where he gets in the race is a small query.

RACE 8: THE GOLDEN MILE

18 runners to contest in this one. The Will Clarken trained Ironclad (No 14) will start favourite with Jamie Kah aboard. A winner of all three of his runs in Australia since coming over from the UK. His last starts have been at the mile and the last of those wins was the Listed C.S. Hayes Quality at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day. They’ve drawn the perfect gate from Gate 5 and should get the run of the race.

MORPHETVILLE: GOOD 4. RAIL OUT 4M THE ENTIRE CIRCUIT

RACE 7: MANIHI CLASSIC OVER 1100M

Some quality runners will assemble for this race. It’s seriously hard to go past No 5 Humma Humma after his third in the Bob Hoysted at Flemington 4 weeks ago. Fabergino won that race and was brilliant in doing so. Humma Humma finished less than a length behind her with that trip being a 1000m. Gate 3 her for the John McArdle trained mare and the extra 100m looks to suit.

RACE 8: CLAIRE LINDOP STAKES OVER THE MILE FOR THE 3YO FILLIES AT SWP

I’m going with the in-form jockey from a good gate and map here. Todd Pannell will take the ride on the Anthony Freedman trained Perfect World (No 7). She began this prep in Sale running second at 1200m then went on to win her maiden at the same track at 1400m two weeks later. Connections then sent her to Flemington to compete in the Group 2 Kewney where she ran evenly. That was over the mile and this race looks like the obvious choice here. She’ll sit midfield with plenty of cover.
