ALLIGATOR BLOOD TO STAY WITH BILLY HEALEY

By Graham Potter | Thursday, August 5, 2021

Hard work has paid off for trainer Billy Healey with Alligator Blood today becoming a formal addition to his racing stable.

Healey has had Alligator Blood in his care prior to the geldings proposed move to the Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott stable following his rehabilitation and steady comeback to work following his operation for a kissing spine, but Alligator Blood’s owners have now issued a vote of confidence in Healey to take Alligator Blood’s career forward.

The announcement came today on the Alligator Blood facebook page. It reads in part:

‘Feeling great and really excited about the spring. Really happy with my new environment. I just love Billy Healey. What a wonderful young guy who has taken a real shine to me. Just quietly, I’ve also taken a shine to Billy. In fact, I just love being around him. I have great stalls, yards and lots of love from his girl friend, Kelly and my fav track work rider, Trish. Lots of green pastures to roam and I’m down to the beach every second day. Had my x-rays done yesterday, and guess what? Perfect. I haven’t felt this good since I was a 2 year old.

‘Anyway, I’ve got some big news guys. Covid has just changed my life for the better. I’m not going to Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott anymore as I’m now staying put with my new buddy, Billy. Gai and Adrian were really disappointed with the news but were really supportive with the decision. that logistically Sydney was not an option with covid. They were very professional upon hearing the news and remain hugely supportive of my future comeback. Real troopers who remain my friends.

Billy is in charge now and I’m so excited about my Melbourne spring campaign. I’ll race on 27 August at the Gold Coast and then head to Melbourne for the Sir Rupert Clarke G1, Toorak G1 and then Cox Plate G1. Guess what? More good news. Glen Boss will ride me and go track work. Bloody awesome. You know he beat my old man (All Too Hard) in the 2012 Cox Plate on Ocean Park. Time to make amends. Bossy and me will be unbeatable. Dad will be so proud of me when we win the Cox Plate.’
