BANGERS AND MAYO’S TASTY WIN

By Graham Potter | Sunday, August 15, 2021

‘Get in the queue here, it’s all Bangers And Mayo. Bangers And Mayo romps in … and the winning margin is probably five.’

That was good commentating by Anthony Collins. The winning margin in Bangers And Mayo’s win at Kilcoy in a Class 3 Handicap over 1500m on August 8 was indeed exactly five lengths in a win which was obviously an easy watch, both for the Sears stable connections and for punters who had supported the four-year-old Spill The Beans chestnut.

Georgina Cartwright brought Bangers And Mayo home under a very confident ride.

She led early at a comfortable gallop, being unfazed by those snapping at Bangers And Mayo’s heels in the first half of the race, before asking a little bit more of Bangers and Majo in the sweep to the home turn where she quickly opened up a four to five length advantage which nobody was able to make any inroads into in the home straight.

The absolute authority of Bangers And Mayo’s win was emphasised by the fact that Bangers and Majo carried 59kg, 5kg more than the runner up, Spurious.

That’s four wins now from seventeen starts for Bangers And Mayo with those wins coming over distances ranging from 1200m to 1660m.

Other Sears stable results for the second week of the season included a second place by Winneba, two third placings … by She’s Heavenly and Dazzling Flash … with Jetski also weighing in with a fourth place finish.

The lightly raced Winneba only had one run as a two-year-old when finishing second on debut back in January and she resumed after a six-and-a-half month layoff at Ipswich to secure a second successive, close-up runner-up finish, both of those results coming over 800m.

She’s Heavenly and Jetski both picked up Saturday Metropolitan prize-money. She’s Heavenly, who had won her first two career starts, was very game at Eagle Farm when beaten less than two lengths by two good ones in Princess Bojack and Glorious Ruby.

Also at Eagle Farm, Jetski turned in his usual honest performance behind Dusty Tycoon in a BM 72 over 1200m while at Toowoomba Dazzling Flash finished in the money for the second time in only three career starts.
