MOUNT FUJI FINDS A NEW HOME IN QUEENSLAND

By Graham Potter | Thursday, August 12, 2021

Mount Fuji, who was originally sold for $2.8 million at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, has found a new home after being offered for sale at the Inglis' 2021 August (Early) Online Sale, which ended yesterday.

The four-year-old, who is winless after four starts, will head to the Gold Coast in the Sunshine State after being purchased by trainer Gillian Heinrich for $75 000 … just 2.6% of its original purchase price.

Mount Fuji, who previously raced for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden, finished unplaced on debut after which he underwent a throat operation to correct a breathing issue. In his three starts since then for, Mount Fuji finished third on two occasions and fourth once … with his prize-money earnings now sitting on $20 850.

What has not been in question is Mount Fuji’s breeding. Mount Fuji, who is still an entire, is by Snitzel out of the General Nediym broodmare, Ichihara.

As trumpeted on the Arrowfield website, ‘Snitzel one of only six stallions in Australian history to win four consecutive Premierships, and the only three-time Champion 2YO Sire in the past two decades’ while Ichihara was a six-time winner from eighteen starts up to Group 2 company.
