A MEETING WITH A MEANING - THAT IS THE HOPE AS AUTHORITIES MEET ONCE AGAIN TO DISCUSS EAGLE FARM

By Graham Potter | Thursday, August 19, 2021

An important meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow at which representatives of Racing Queensland, the Brisbane Racing Club and the Queensland Branch of the Australian Trainers’ Association will try to find common ground as to how to move along with the management of the problematic Eagle Farm racetrack.

This is just the latest in a series of scheduled monthly meetings set up after a crisis meeting brought the track’s performance into focus back in January, but tomorrow’s discussion takes on extra importance as most participants acknowledge that it is clearly time for firm decisions to be made and actions implemented with regard to the track.

Given the history of the track over several years, any band-aid solution would not serve the purpose while any major renovation would be costly to the point where it is likely to require support from the State Government, so there will certainly not be any overnight fix but, when the media releases are posted after the tomorrow’s meeting, it has to be hoped that there is enough content in them to confirm that a positive pathway has been plotted and that there is movement underway to implement a workable solution that would ensure the well-being of the track well into the future.
