TREKKING BACK FOR A THIRD ATTEMPT AT THE EVEREST

By Graham Potter | Monday, October 11, 2021

The Godolphin Racing Empire has an embarrassment of bloodstock riches, so when they announce their selection to take up their slot in The Everest, that selection is always well worth a second glance.

It has now been officially confirmed that Trekking will represent the royal blue army in the $15 million extravaganza at Randwick on Saturday.

It will be Trekking’s third attempt to land The Everest after placing third and fourth in the last two editions of the race.

Godolphin Australia’s Managing Director Vin Cox was keen to make two points. One, at seven year’s old, ‘he is not the oldest horse in the race’ … some might have frowned upon his age … and, secondly, that, ‘he’s been in the Everest twice before and Nature Strip has been in the same race and each time he has beaten him.’

Certainly, there is food for thought in both of those comments.

Josh Parr, who was on the son of Street Cry in both of his previous Everest runs, will again be in the saddle for the son of Street Cry.

Trekking currently sits at $21 in the betting for The Everest, with the all-important barrier draw still to come.
