WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, NOVEMBER 2, 2021

By Darren Winningham | Monday, November 1, 2021

Eagle Farm on Melbourne Cup Day where the track rated ‘Good. The rail is out 12 metres for the entire circuit. After watching the races on Saturday, I would expect that leaders will have a massive advantage on this track.

Samantha Collett gets out of quarantine Monday and has wasted no time in getting some rides here!

Selections only for the meeting – after all the big races are at FLEMINGTON.

Race 1

The Chris Waller Racing and Luke Dittman combination is always solid to follow. Caboche (2) comes from some solid efforts in NSW and makes his debut here in QLD.
Selections:

2 – Caboche
5 – Imadgic
7 – Damiani
6 – Mr Dudwey

Race 2

An open race – Mick Lakey and Taylor Marshall combine with Enterprise Mia (6). She is second up here and will be best suited over the mile.

Selections:

6 – Enterprise Mia
3 – I Am Winkles
9 – Idling By
4 – Love Demon

Race 3

A small field over the 2237 metres.

Bombay Nights (2) drops back from Saturday grade to this race. Trained by Matthew Dunn and does like to lead. I think that the claim for Kyle Wilson Taylor (KWT) will be the key to his success.

Khaalis (3) has a tongue tie going on – Chris Waller Racing and Luke Dittman again – keep safe.

Selections:

2 – Bombay Nights
3 – Khaalis
1 – Motamayiz
6 – Malibu Blaze

Race 4

1000 metre sprint here – Class 1 runners.

Steven O’Dea & Matt Hoysted have Jaden Lloyd riding Fetch (7) here. Resumed on a Saturday meeting – looked good in the running and finished off the race well. Back in grade looks well placed.

Selections:

7 – Fetch
1 –Queen Sweeper
4 – Virtuous Miss
2 – Titanium

Race 5

1800 metre race.

Again, Chris Waller Racing has two solid chances.

A toss of the coin really – maybe Karlstad (10) to be ridden by Jimmy Orman, a late replacement for Ronnie Stewart who is off to ride in the Melbourne Cup. Fifth up this preparation and has raced well here previously.

Kirkeby (4) will be ridden by Luke Dittman – won recently over the mile and can race close to the speed.

Selections:

10 – Karlstad
4 – Kirkeby
11 – Madame Mo
6 – Irish Ace

Race 6

First leg of the Treble – sprint over 1200 metres.

Ingear (4) loves Eagle Farm – back from Saturday grade to this race. Looks well placed and the likely leader here. Ryan Maloney to ride for Gollan – looks a solid bet.

Kudu (5) raced over 1500 metres last time for Melissa Taylor. I think his go is more 1200 metres. With that in mind and his ability to sit on the speed I expect Jimmy Orman to trail Ingear (4) throughout the running – it will all come down to the last 75 metres and who finishes the strongest.

Selections:

4 – Ingear
5 – Kudu
6 – Soubrette
8 – Plutocrat

Race 7

A small field over 1000 metres. Some great sprinters engaged here.

I like the effort of Simply Fly (8) first up when beaten by Le Palmier (4) here a fortnight ago. Meets that runner 2.5 kilograms better off in this race – Mark Du Plessis to ride for the Rex Lipp & Nick Hahn Racing partnership.

Le Palmier (4) and King Klaus (2) will lead and go hard – possibly set it up for something to come home late. If there are no horses making ground on this meeting these two will be the hardest to hold out.

Selections:

8 – Simply Fly
4 – Le Palmier
2 – King Klaus
3 – Kisukano

Race 8

The last race – by now the punters would have watched the Melbourne Cup – they probably have had too much to drink and will stagger home after a massive day out – 90% chance they will not be at work on Wednesday!

Another small field over 1400 metres.

Big chance the Chris Anderson trained runner Firebox (2) with KWT to ride. Gets in nicely at the weights here. Should jump well from barrier 4 and race handy – comes back to this grade after a solid effort last time out at a Saturday meeting.

Selections:

2 – Firebox
5 – Moonan Me
9 – Heaven Amore
10 – Ossabuco
