SUPREME COURT SETS ASIDE KAH'S SENTENCE

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, November 17, 2021

Everybody makes mistakes … and Jamie Kah paid ‘big time’ for her incredible error of judgement which saw her having to serve a three month ban from racing during the most lucrative time on the racing calendar for her involvement in the now notorious Airbnb scandal.

Unlike some of her co-accused, Kah took that penalty on the chin, but she bristled when she was handed a further two months penalty after being found guilty of giving misleading evidence to Racing Victoria stewards during their investigation into what transpired at the Airbnb and who was actually at that location at that time.

She claimed innocence to that charge and felt strongly enough about her good name in terms of her honesty to challenge that outcome in the Supreme Court.

At the time Kah was adamant. "I am going to court to defend my reputation as to honesty. It is too important to myself as a person not to," Kah said.

To her obvious relief, the Supreme Court ruling set aside the two month ban for giving misleading evidence and, with the original three month ban set to expire at midnight on November 25, Kah’s return to race action is now immenent.

Kah acknowledged her victory on social media saying:

"As you probably know the Supreme Court determined my appeal. I am obviously very happy with the outcome. It’s now time to move forward. I can’t wait to get back to what I love, riding and being part of our amazing industry.

‘Thanks to everyone who has said kind words to me or provided moral support over the last 3 months, it has been a real comfort through very tough times. As I said last time, I won’t be making any further public comment. See you at the races!'
