IT 'S TOO EARLY TO SPECULATE ON INCENTIVISE'S FUTURE

By Graham Potter | Monday, December 20, 2021

The fairy-tale story of Incentivise … the horse who took the racing world by storm throughout 2021 … appears to be very much slipping into neutral, just as the year that placed him into prominence also winds down.

Or that least that is the current status.

Incentivise, the ever so game Melbourne Cup runner-up, is back in Toowoomba with Steve Tregea, his breeder, former trainer and managing owner, recuperating from several physical issues that came to light after his brave Melbourne Cup effort which will have him sidelined for the foreseeable future.

While Incentivise’s racing future will thus remain in limbo for some time to come, he is still making headlines.

A report on Racing.com has suggested there is some unrest amongst the ownership group as well as some speculation as to whether the horse would … or would not … go back to trainer Peter Moody should he return to action.

Given Incentivise’s current condition and circumstances, talk about any policy making decisions at this time would appear to be premature.

It will only be after the results of the next round of scans, scheduled for February, that more will be known about exactly where Incentivise’s career stands at that time.

He will clearly be given all of the time he needs to recover, and an informed decision will only be made on his future when that latest evidence is available.
