TWO SETS OF BROTHERS SET TO GO HEAD TO HEAD AT EAGLE FARM IN THE NATIONAL APPRENTICE RACE SERIES

By Graham Potter | Tuesday, March 15, 2022

The National Apprentice Race Series moves to Queensland this week where it comes in as race four on the midweek card at Eagle Farm.

Two runners have already been scratched from the Class 3 Plate, which will be contested over 1200m, but the race still maintains a particular point of interest in that two sets of brothers with a rich family history in racing … the Lloyds and the Prices .. are due to go under starters orders.

Jaden and Zac Lloyd, under the astute mentoring their father, multiple Group 1 and multiple Premiership winning, champion jockey Jeff Lloyd, have taken to their chosen profession like ducks to water and they have already added a notable presence to the riding ranks in the Sunshine State.

Jeff Lloyd retired a couple of years ago and has since dedicated most of his time to helping his sons forge successful careers of their own in the saddle … and they are very much on their way to doing just that.

Jaden Lloyd leads the Brisbane Apprentice Jockey’s Premiership and his thirty-eight Metropolitan victories is also good enough to see him currently fill third place on the Brisbane Jockey’s Premiership itself.

Zac Lloyd, for his part, in all likelihood, only have his first rides in town next season but his position at the top of the Provincial Apprentice Jockey’s Premiership ladder underlines both the success and the excellent grounding he is having before his move to the city competition.

Meanwhile, Will and Ben Price are also proudly following in the footsteps of their father Simon Price, a Group 1 winning jockey, with Ben Price currently holding down third place in the South Australia Jockey’s Premiership.

The Lloyd and Price brothers will be joined in the race for apprentice bragging rights by Cejay Graham, Kyle Wilson-Taylor, Sheriden Tomlinson, Wendy Peel and Adin Thompson.
