ORBISYN SET TO MAKE HIS LONG AWAITED RETURN

By Graham Potter | Wednesday, April 27, 2022

The countdown to the long-awaited return of the unbeaten Orbisyn to race action can now officially begin with trainer David Vandyke confirming that the Listed ATC Cup at the Gold Coast on May 7 has been set down as the kick off point for the four-year-old son of Rich Enuff’s second campaign.

In his first preparation Orbisyn carried all before him in no uncertain terms, claiming four straight wins between March 3, 2021 and June 22. 2021 by a combined winning margin of just under sixteen lengths when never really getting out of second gear.

His potential obviously seemed enormous. Big money offers to purchase Orbisyn were knocked back while his name was also being bandied about a real contender in several upcoming big feature races in the southern states at that time, but a hind leg lameness problem was considered serious enough to put his career on hold.

Vandyke lives by the often stated philosophy of putting the horse interests first and that is exactly what he and owner Jan McMillan have done with Orbisyn who has been given all the time he needed to overcome his setback and slowly eased back into training and carefully progressed to the stage of being ready to take on competitive racing again after an eleven month layoff.

Where Orbisyn goes after his Gold Coast assignment is not yet set in stone.

“All being well, we will probably go to the BRC Sprint or the Chief De Beers after the Gold Coast,” said Vandyke. “We’ll just see what happens at the Gold Coast first.

“And then the Eye Liner at Ipswich will more than likely be his Grand Final for this prep.”
