STARTANTES WILL HEAD TO THE $2 MILLION THE INVITATION AT RANDWICK IN OCTOBER

By Graham Potter | Tuesday, June 28, 2022

Tatts Tiara winner Startantes has booked her placed in this year’s edition of the $2 million The Invitation, a race in which she participated last year in its inaugural running.

Having been issued with an early invitation by Racing New South Wales after her Group 1 win at Eagle Farm on Saturday … trainer Robert Heathcote and Startantes’s connections now have the freedom to plan Startantes’s racing schedule to fit the purpose for the 1400m event which will be contested on October 22 at Randwick.

The race is exclusively for fillies and mares and is to be run under set weight conditions.

Startantes is the first runner to receive an invitation to start in the race and it is clearly a well merited invitation.

The well performed daughter of Star Turn won five of her first eight career starts before jumping to Group 1 company where she finished sixth in the Golden Rose behind the likes of In the Congo and Anamoe.

She followed that up with a third place in the Group1 Fight Stakes before finishing unplaced in last year’s running of The Invitation.

She would also go on to record, amongst other results, a second place behind Hinged in the Group 1 Surround Stakes (when only touched off by the narrowest of margins), a credible fifth place in the Group 1 Stradbroke … before topping it all off with her first Group 1 success in the Tatts Tiara last Saturday.

Her current race record stands at six wins and five minor placings, from nineteen starts, with $891 500 banked in prize-money.
