MOST DAZZLING STREETS THEM

By Graham Potter | Saturday, June 4, 2022

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained Most Dazzling, a lightly raced three-year-old gelding, made a winning return to action, after a five week freshen up, when he comfortably took out a Class 1 Handicap over 1000m at Toowoomba on June 4.

Most Dazzling ($2.50) and Tuboart ($3.50) were the two market favourites, and their first battle was for the early lead, which was won by Tuboart when Karl Zechner was determined to lead on the Mark Currie trained runner and Angela Jones settled for taking a close-up trial on Most Dazzling.

These two runners held station … with the balance of the field stretched out behind them and, coming to the final approach to the home turn, Most Dazzling was two lengths adrift of Tuboart and these two runners already had the race to themselves, having pulled four lengths clear of the nearest runner in the chasing pack.

Jones set Most Dazzling about his business early in the straight and he had to put in an effort to get alongside Toboart and then, again, had be strong when Toboart threatened to fight back and take the result right to the wire … but having passed both of those tests, Most Dazzling’s superiority then kicked in allowing the Sear’s trained runner to speed clear of Turboart in no uncertain terms over the final 150m to score by a smashing 3.50 length margin.

Looking further back, the third placed Outlaw Josey Wales ($6) came home a full 6.50 lengths behind the winner, underlining the total authority with which Most Dazzling had put her second career win on the board.

Remember, this was the horse that the Sears camp took to the Listed Dalrello at Eagle Farm during the 2021 Brisbane Winter Carnival for his debut run, so they obviously thought a bit of him at that time.

This was only Most Dazzling's fourth run over the twelve month period since that debut run and, while it was only a Class 1 contest, the hint of above average ability that the Sears Training Partnership thought they might have identified early on was very much in play here.

You can only win the race you are in … and Most Dazzling, quite simply, could not have been more impressive.
