INDISCREETLY - A LIKELY FACTOR IN THE WINX GUINEAS

By Graham Potter | Friday, July 1, 2022

It is not a happy time for trainer Danny Bougoure with the dark clouds of his ongoing, unhappy and very unfortunate stoush with the Brisbane Racing Club over his stable lease situation threatening to overshadow everything else, but, in spite of all of those distractions, a Group 3 win could well be in the offing for the stable at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Bougoure saddles the well performed Indiscreetly in the Group 3 Winx Guineas.

The daughter of Spill The Beans won three out of four starts in her first preparation, quickly moving from her Maiden victory over 1300m at the Gold Coast, through to a QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap over 1400m and then on to a City To Surf Plate over 1600m.

During that three-race winning blitz, Indiscreetly showed her versatility … as well as winning over three different distances, she won on both good and soft going … and she also underlined her rapid rate of progress over that period by increasing her winning distance on each occasion … from 1.75 lengths to 2.25 lengths to no less than 6.25 lengths.

The miss in that first four race preparation came when she raced in the highly competitive $2 million Magic Millions Guineas … where she was well beaten, after which Bougoure sent her for a spell.

"With hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have gone to the Magic Millions,” admitted Bougoure.

“She drew badly, and it pretty much went pear-shaped from there, so we spelled her pretty much straight away.”

Indiscreetly was away from race action for a full five months.

"She resumed at Ipswich two weeks ago,” continued Bougoure. “I thought she ran really well in the circumstances. I didn’t expect the track to be that wet … I was happy with a soft 5, but an 8 first up was probably a bridge too far for her.

"She’s bounced through that run though and has come on really well.

"She is drawn ideally in barrier two on Saturday, so sheould get the perfect run and might be hard to beat.”

Indiscreetly currently sits on the second line of betting at $7 behind the Bjorn Baker trained Battleton, who is a hot favourite for the Winx Guineas at $2.30.
