MOST DAZZLING BLINDSIDES THE OPPOSITION

By Graham Potter | Thursday, July 14, 2022

The Tony and Maddysen Sears trained Most Dazzling attracted good support to start favourite at $2.35 in a Three-Year-Old BM65 Handicap over 1350m at Ipswich on July 14.

The three-year-old son of Red Dazzler had finished a close-up third in town at Eagle Farm in his previous start … and punters recognised that as winning form in this line-up in which Most Dazzling faced five rivals.

That judgement proved to be well-founded.

Gun jockey Jimmy Orman landed Most Dazzling in the leading line in what was a keenly contested duel for early advantage between five of the six runners before Orman elected to take the sit, settling just two lengths of the early speed.

Most Dazzling was up to third, on the rail … right on the heels of the leaders as the field began the sweep to the final turn, still travelling well within himself.

At the 600m Orman decided it was time to get serious and he shifted Most Dazzling away from the rail and asked him to start giving chase.

The Team Sears trained runner was still third, three wide, on straightening.

With his head turned to one side, Most Dazzling took a number of strides to fully balance up after cornering, but once Orman had got the gelding to focus firmly on the job at hand, he quickly found his feet and he duly produced a telling, sustained run all the way to the line to set up a third career victory in only his eighth start.

The winning margin was a decisive 1.30 lengths.

Most Dazzling’s three wins have come in progressive fashion over 800m, 1000m and now 1350m.
