JAKKALBERRY FINN'S CONSISTENCY IS REWARDED

By Graham Potter | Sunday, November 6, 2022

The six-year-old gelding Jakkalberry Finn made it three winners for the weekend for the David Vandyke stable when he saluted at the Sunshine Coast in a Class 3 Handicap over 1800m on November 6.

Racing first-up at generous odds of $6, Jakkalberry Finn was taken right back to last from a wide draw by Ben Thompson at the jump and he raced all of six lengths off the speed early.

He was then up to second last, five lengths off the leader in the start of the sweep to the home turn.

You could make that four lengths at the point of the turn where Jakkalberry Finn was now swinging four wide and making ground, carrying good momentun.

Jakkalberry Finn continued his run and got to the lead halfway up the home straight, but the race was still far from won with a number of runners continuing to pressure the Vandyke trained runner all of the way to the line.

Jakkalberry Finn was not going to be denied though and he held all of those challengers at bay to score by 0,50 lengths.

That’s three wins and seven places from fourteen starts now for Jakkalberry Finn, whose consistency was rewarded here as he has only finished out of the top three in one of his last five starts.
