WINNO'S WINNERS: EAGLE FARM, NOVEMBER 4, 2023

By Darren Winningham | Saturday, November 4, 2023

EAGLE FARM this week. The track is rated ‘Good’. The rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

NB: As these selections were made prior to race-day, please check for any changes to track conditions and for any scratchings on the day.

Race 1

A class 3 over 1000 metres.

Gollan Racing and Angela Jones combine here with Liquor (4). Hopefully after a solid effort on this track last time out beaten by Steady Ready – who is above average - that form should see her win the first race and send the punters to the bar, all cashed up to have a few brewskis!

Selections:

4 – Liquor
3 – Nord Lyon
2 – Perfect Mission
8 – Tengun Ready

Race 2

Two-year-old runners. Les Ross Racing has 6 out of the 16 runners.

Devine Force (3) won on debut for the Chris Munce Racing team. He was well ridden on that occasion by Robbie Dolan and he looks the one to beat here this weekend.

Some caution with the Tony Gollan Racing debutante Ending Sweet (9) who has been trialling well and has Cejay Graham aboard for this run.

Selections:

3 – Devine Force
9 – Ending Sweet
13 – Cutting Edge
10 – Viale
Rough chances – (12) Mishani Crown

Race 3

This race is a Class 6 over 1825 metres. A lottery!

Chris Waller Racing looks like they have the winning quinella here – just which one will get the job done?

Quality Time (1) put in a solid effort last time out – with the claim for Cejay Graham he looks well placed.

The stable mate Rousseau (2) looks the only challenger with Ryan Maloney riding.

Selections:

1 – Quality Time
2 – Rousseau
6 – Kilpling’s Journey
3 – Fifth Position

Race 4

Three-year-old runners over 1400 metres. Tough race.

Chris Anderson trains Booming Lad (4) who is third up here with Martin Harley aboard. Last time out went too fast and dropped out late. Look for him to be ridden a little more conservative here and at $9 he looks great each way value.

Selections:

4– Booming Lad
2 – Weigall Tiger
3 – Bonded Affair
7 – Planned Encounter

Race 5

No Metro Win over 1400 metres.

The Barry Lockwood trained runner Evocator (5) got beaten by an eyelash in his last race here – they lodged a protest and still could not get the win in the steward’s room. Robbie Dolan rides. He looks like my best bet of the day.

Selections:

5 – Evocator
8 – Revontulet
1 – Magic Charlee
13 – Bandit
Rough chance – (16) Fenton

Race 6

First leg of the Quaddie – only 9 races this week. Open field here over 1300 at BM70 –

Zaher (9) was heavily backed last time out. He just seemed to get lost coming into the straight and then he knuckled down late and worked to the line stylishly. The blinkers go on the Gary Duncan trained runner – Ben Thomson will ride again.

Madame Odette (8) resumes for Gollan Racing. She was solid over the Winter Carnival in black type races. With the speed engaged in this race she could be belting home late – Ryan Maloney rides.

Selections:

9 – Zaher
8 – Madame Odette
6 – Fun Sponge
1 – Light of Boom
Rough chances – (13) April In Augusta

Race 7

First leg of the Treble – open field here over 1600 at BM68.

Something each way on the David Vandyke trained Colleagues (7) who is second up with Ryan Maloney riding. Was caught wide first up and worked home fair to the line. Steps up to a more suitable distance – keep safe at $7 each way.

Esky (9) jumped out of the ground in his last start effort here a fortnight ago – got a little far back last time. Look for Mark Du Plessis to work some magic and put him in the finish.

Selections:

7 – Colleagues
9 – Esky
4 – Poetic Drama
5 – Finsceal
Rough chances – (6) Tenzing

Race 8

Open class race over 1400 metres.

Edmonds Racing’s runner The Vowels (7) will be ridden by Ben Thompson. He resumed over 1200 metres – got too far back and then worked home late – this is more his distance and second up where he is 2 starts for 2 wins – I think he can beat the favourite.

The favourite is Ekaterina (8) from the Heathcote Racing yards – Martin Harley will ride. They rode her closer to the speed last time out and she got the chocolates – drawn barrier 1. There is some speed in the race. I think she will get somewhere midfield and will finish off strong.

I think it is possible these two will be belting home together late to bother the judge.

The favourite’s stable mate is Dune Forty Five (3). He sprints well fresh - 5 starts for 3 wins – and when he gets home he is normally a good price – this weekend he will be around $15 – keep him safe. Boris Thornton will ride.

Jetty (5) from Munce Racing has Mark Du Plessis aboard – he was slow away when resuming and got too far back but did finish off strong. Second up and a longer distance – could be another knockout chance at odds.

Ocean Treaty (10) has a habit of racing well fresh – normally second up. However, he has been well supported in the markets here first up, firming from $21 to $7.50 – a huge go! Trained by Steven O’Dea & Matt Hoysted – Damien Thornton in the saddle.

Selections:

7 – The Vowels
8 – Ekaterina
5 – Jetty
3 – Dune Forty Five
Rough chance – (10) Ocean Treaty

Race 9

BM85 class over 1200 metres.

The last race today – early finish – YAY – then we get into the form for the 2023 Melbourne Cup – run on Tuesday!

Lost In Transit (7) is flying. Trained by Stuart Kendrick he is looking to post four wins in his past five starts. He goes up in class, down in the weights and looks ideally placed with Ryan Maloney riding.

Richon (8) is trained by Peter Robl. Resumed with an easy effort to win at Ipswich. Second up here with a nice record. I just think he has some serious talent – the 2-kilogram claim for Cejay Graham could prove vital late.

Go Wandji (1) resumes after a 63-week spell. The claim for Jake Molloy (3 kilograms) will help him. I just think he may be better across the road where the track surface is softer. However, he is a real talent – if he is ready here it would be wonderful to relaunch his career where he left off – he is a talented sprinter.

Manhood (3) is first up here – always runs a bold race fresh – his record oozes with that confidence with 3 starts for 3 wins. Annabel Neasham will have him ready here first up – Damien Thornton will ride. A recent barrier trial suggests he is very forward.

Selections:

8 – Richon
7 – Lost in Transit
3 – Manhood
1 – Go Wandji
Rough chance – (9) Nashira
