Open Letter to the Racing Minister, Grace Grace.

Dear Minister,

As you are well aware, your announcement of an Independent Review into QRIC in December 2023 gave a glimmer of hope to some racing participants. You might also be aware that other participants immediately dismissed the Review as a waste of both time and resources (read money) believing, on the probability of past experience, that little would come of it.

The review was scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2024 and you did indeed confirm to me, when pressed, that the completed review was on your desk when we chatted briefly at The Archer race meeting in Rockhampton on April 28.

Now, more than three months later, no review findings have been released.

To suggest, as you have recently, that this would be released ‘soon’ was already an out-of-date comment when you said it.

‘Soon’ ... is long gone.

And by the way, the release has to be a full, unabridged version and must be made public. Any delay or deviation or lack of conviction in that regard, in my opinion, only serves to disrespect the racing community that you serve ... and, at some level, it feeds the appetite of the conspiracy theorists which is counter-productive to the cause.

They can’t make a meal of it if you push speculation aside and put the truth on the table.

You have the report. You have the authority to release it ... but, above all, you have the absolute responsibility and, as many believe, the obligation to do so ... and to do it now.

If you don’t, it would beg the legitimate question, what are you afraid of?

I therefore call on you to please rectify this matter.
