DAMIEN THORNTON SUFFERS A BROKEN HUMERUS IN A RACE FALL AT THE SUNSHINE COAST

Flying high without a trapeze or a safety net … that was Damien Thornton as he parted company in spectacular fashion from his mount Around The Buoy, who clipped heels at the point of the home turn during the running of the seventh race at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
Thornton, who won on Dark Chill earlier in the day, was treated on the track before being transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Thornton confirmed this morning that he had suffered a broken humerus, an injury which will put him out of action for the immediate future.
Around The Buoy, who did not fall, galloped on and a post-race veterinary examination of Around The Bouy revealed no abnormalities.
