TOBY EDMONDS AND STEPHEN MCLEAN FORM A TRAINING PARTNERSHIP

Toby Edmonds Racing has been rebranded to E & M Racing following the formal announcement of the formation of the training partnership between Toby Edmonds and Stephen McLean.
The new partnership will send out their first runner at the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday where they will have a good chance of putting an early win on the board with Clover’s Prince (in the fourth race on the card), who has finished in the money in all three starts since resuming from a spell.
Group 1 winning trainer Edmonds was previously in a training partnership with his son Trent from August 2019 until earlier this year when Trent moved to Pakenham to begin training in his own right.
The thirty-two-year-old McLean brings valuable experience to his new role.
He worked at Hallmark Stud in New Zealand in his early years before gaining further international experience in both the UK and the US. He has also worked for a host of trainers in Australia including Mick Kent (Senior) and Bjorn Baker.
"Sephen has been around for a while, moving from stable to stable to gain experience ... which he has done,” said Edmonds. “He’s done his time, and he was keen to train.
“I’ve known Stephen for a long time. His father, Mark McLean, is an owner in the stable. He approached me and asked if I would consider taking him on ... and I was happy to do that.”
This development, moving to a training partnership setup, coincides with another recent move the stable has undertaken, having only moved into the newly redeveloped Gold Coast Turf Club’s Traintech stable complex facility three weeks ago.
