HUXTABLE'S HOT STREAK
By Graham Potter | Tuesday, January 28, 2025
Justin Huxtable hasn’t been hanging about since he won his appeal against Racing Queensland’s decision to suspend his license indefinitely, following reports that he had been charged by police under section 227A of the Queensland Criminal Code, following an alleged reported complaint made against him by a young woman relating to a breach of privacy.
Huxtable appeal win did come at some cost though. While being allowed to resume racing, there was a restriction which prohibited Huxtable from taking any rides north of Rockhampton. (Huxtable’s alleged indiscretion reportedly took place in Cairns in far north Queensland).
Huxtable was also banned from doing pre or post-race media interviews while he awaits the outcome of this serious matter … and there were a couple of other strict stipulations he has to adhere to … but, putting that serious off-track situation aside, there is no doubt that Huxtable has been letting his riding do the talking since getting back to business.
In the last month, amongst other wins, Huxtable rode four winners at Beaudesert on December 28, a double at Kilcoy on January 2, four winners at Ipswich on January 4, four winners at Dalby on January 17, a double at Gatton on January 19, a city double at Doomben on January 22 and a treble at Gatton om January 28.
He has also been racking up the miles in terms of race rides with his last fifty rides coming in the last twelve days.
This hot run of success has lifted Huxtable up into fourth place in the Racing Queensland Provincial Jockey’s Premiership.
In the saddle, Huxtable is clearly a man on a mission. Some things might be out of his hands, but where he has been the master of his own destiny of late, he clearly has had things very much under control and going his way.
