KICKATINALONG MAKES IT THREE WINS IN A ROW

By Graham Potter | Saturday, March 8, 2025

In a week where scheduled racing fixtures in South-East Queensland were at the mercy of the long-lingering threat posed by Cyclone Alfred, Saturday’s Toowoomba meeting on March 8 was able to go ahead which allowed the Tony and Maddysen Sears trained Kickatinalong the opportunity to advance her cause, an opportunity she grabbed in no uncertain terms.

The daughter of Magnus started at the restrictive odds of $1.55 in a Class 2 Plate of 1300m, and she gave her followers not a single moment of concern as she romped home to win by a memorable seven length margin which saw the lightly raced, four-year-old chestnut mare claim her third win from only four starts, the result leaving her unbeaten this preparation.

Kickatinalong landed in the leading line, but was held three wide for the first 400. Luke Tarrant, who has partnered Kickatinalomng in all three wins, was not fazed by that at all though and he allowed the Sears trained runner to make her way to the front in her own time, eventually getting to the lead with 800m left to run.

Once there, Tarrant kept Kickatinalong at a comfortable, measured gallop, happy to lead by a neat length in the sweep to the home turn before widening that margin to two lengths … with the minimum of fuss … on straightening ahead of an already struggling pack.

Still only ridden out hands and heels, Kickatinalong then really put her rivals to the sword, stretching away with consummate ease to open that that seven-length advantage at the line.

Wins don’t come any easier than this!
