ARCHIBALD STABLE ON A HOT RUN OF FORM
By Graham Potter | Thursday, May 29, 2025
How is this for a return over the first four weeks of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival!
A win in the Group 1 Doomben 10 000. Group 2 wins in both the Queensland Guineas and the Victory Stakes, a win in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas, and a win in the Listed Chief de Beers … and you can throw in a second place in the Group 1 Doomben Cup for good measure.
Four Group wins and feature race winners at every one of the four meetings since the Carnival officially kicked off on May 3 is a quite outstanding effort … and it belongs to the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable who are certainly making merry in the Sunshine State at a time when the racing spotlight shines firmly on the region.
That run of results alone makes the Archibald stable feature race runners on Queensland Derby Day at Eagle Farm this Saturday well worthy of attention.
Libertad, who was the shock winner of the Victory Stakes winner at a starting price of $71, and Bosustow, who was a six-length runaway winner of the Gold Coast Guineas, are the Archibald duo targeting the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup.
First Agreement, who is better than the last run in the Rough Habit Plate suggests, is the stable runner in the Queensland Derby. Midnight In Tokyo, who finished third, first-up in the Listed Bright Shadow, is set to tackle the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes … while Tuned, who finished third behind Bosustow in the Gold Coast Guineas is the stable representative in the Listed Fred Best Classic.
A stable bang in form … sending out highly competitive runners … with the likes of Jamie Mott, Josh Parr, Nash Raillery and Jag Guthmann-Chester helping guide their fortunes from the saddle, the Archibald stable clearly have a real live chance of keeping their hot run of feature race form going.
The bottom line is … you simply cannot ignore them.
