SKYBIRD OUT OF THE EVEREST
By Graham Potter | Wednesday, October 1, 2025
The Mitch Freedman trained Skybird is no longer an Everest runner.
It was less than a week ago that Skybird was announced as the Inglis slot-holder’s choice for the $20 million race, but Inglis now have to alter their plans and negotiate another runner after Skybird pulled up lame when finishing second last, 7.60 lengths behind the upset winner Charm Stone in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley last Friday.
Freedman subsequently contacted Inglis confirming that Skybird, who jumped to prominence when winning Group 1 Lightning at Flemington on February 15, would not be ready for an Everest assignment.
This change means that we are back to four slots runners still to be confirmed.
The runners, as it stands now, are Angel Capital, Briasa, Jimmysstar, Joliestar, Ka Ying Rising, Lady Shenandoah, Overpass and Private Harry with four runners, still to be named, to be added to that list.
